Some Cards

Hi scrappy friends!

I thought I would share some of my cards that I created with the fun March Creative Kit for My Creative Scrapbook. I am really digging making cards these days. As you probably noticed, I'm more of layout kind of gal, but when there are so many beautiful scraps left over from the kits, I thought that it was a good idea. It takes me out of my comfort zone and it's fun to give cards to friends and family for a pick me up.

I love the rub ons in the kit. They are very good quality and I thought they were nice to use as my sentiments on the cards.

As you can see, I love the texture that stitching, whether it's a sewing machine or hand stitching creates on the cards. It gives it more of a homemade feel that I love.

Boys Rule

Hello scrappy friends! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Today I wanted to share a masculine layout for A Flair For Buttons.

Yes, it's been quite a while since I've made a boy page and it felt good. I decided to do some major stash busting so I dug deep into my paper stash and found this older paper collection by Bella Blvd. that is perfect for boys. It's the Max Collection, which I believe is a winter release from 2014.

I arranged lots and lots of patterned paper strips along the bottom half of my white cardstock background  and machine stitched them in place with my vintage sewing machine in white thread.

For the photo of my son, I backed it with some scraps of Bella Blvd. papers from some various older collections and then added some stickers and of course a black heart flair button from A Flair For Buttons Just Hearts 2 Flair Set. Everything is better with hearts. I love hearts and heart flair buttons are no exception.

For the title "Boys Rule", I added some old green chipboard alpha stickers, that have also been in my stash for some time, that are also from Bella Blvd. To make the title even more fun, I added a yellow star flair button from the My Life 4 Flair Set to replace the "o" in the word "Boys".

Finally, I added some star enamel shaped stickers in black, yellow and orange to give it a little more interest and dimension to the white cardstock background. I also added my son's name and date, when the photo was taken, with an acid free black fine line marker.

Voila! The layout is all done.

I really had fun creating this boy layout and flair buttons are my absolute favorite embellishment to add some more pizzaz to any paper project.

My Creative Scrapbook February Tutorial

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share a tutorial on how I created this layout with the February Creative Kit for My Creative Scrapbook. 

Basic Supplies

Adhesive (liquid, tape runner and scotch tape)
Card stock (white)
Embroidery Floss (I used light pink, medium pink, and red)
Embroidery Needle
Foam Pad
Scissors
Paper Piercer
Paper Punches (heart shaped punches in 3 different sizes - small, medium, large)
Paper Trimmer
Pencil
Ruler

Kit Supplies (from the February Creative Kit)

Ephemera (love word)
Foam black alphas
Patterned Paper (XO paper, small heart paper, red and white dotted paper)
Ribbon (red and white stitch)
Sequins (5 pink)
Stickers (Be Mine heart sticker, heart balloon, three hearts, xo border strip)
Wood pieces (5 hearts, two arrows)

Instructions

Begin with a 12 X 12 inch piece of white card stock.

Cut the XO patterned paper so it measures 7 inches by 12 inches. Adhere to the bottom of
the white card stock.

Adhere the xo sticker strip above the XO patterned paper and to the left and right edge of the white card stock.

Add heart balloon sticker to the bottom left of photo


























and the three heart sticker to the bottom right of the photo.

Cut the red ribbon approximately seven inches so that it will tuck behind the photo. Adhere.

Center the photo and adhere it to the background.

Using a ruler, add the word "sibling" to ruler and center it to the photo. When it is centred,
,place the alphas down over the photo and red ribbon.

With the letters L O V E from the ephemera pack, tuck them underneath the black foam alphas adhering them down with a dab of liquid adhesive being sure to center the letters.

With a pencil and a ruler, draw vertical lines on the top edge of the white cardstock at 1 inch, 3 inch, 6 inch, 9 inch and 11 inch.





With the paper piercer and the foam pad, pierce holes about 1/4 inch apart on the vertical lines.



With the embroidery floss, select three strands and thread the embroidery needle. With a backstitch, sew though the pierced holes. Beginning from the left edge, I sewed mine in red, medium pink, light pink, and red. Secure the cut threads on the backside with some scotch tape.

Punch the heart paper with two sizes of heart paper punches. I punched four large hearts and four small hearts.





With a tape runner adhesive,  add some adhesive to the large punched hearts and stack the smaller punched hearts on top and fold the small paper hearts in half to give more dimension.

Adhere the punched dimensional hearts to the layout as shown on top of the hand stitching.

Punch the red patterned paper with the small heart paper punch. Adhere them on top of the hand stitching as shown.

Adhere the wood hearts with liquid adhesive on top of the hand stitching.

Adhere the pink sequins with a tiny dab of liquid adhesive and adhere to the hand stitching.

Adhere one wood arrow to the left of the photo with a dab of liquid adhesive.
Adhere another wood arrow to the right of the photo with a dab of liquid adhesive.

Add the "Be Mine" heart sticker to the photo as shown.

The layout is now complete.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and try hand stitching. Machine stitching would also be perfectly fine. It adds a homemade feel to the layout.

My Creative Scrapbook February Kits

I created four layouts with the February Creative Kits and they are all about love to Valentine's Day.

For the first layout, I wanted to created a layout of my excitement to be a first time grandma. I cut out the doily, butterflies, and flowers from cut files, that are included free with the kits, on my Silhouette Cameo, backed the flowers with some patterned paper and added some red sequins, which are included in the kit. i also added some computer generated journaling on some white cardstock, added the foam alphas for the title, and also some ephemera and ribbon from the kit. 

 For this layout I began with a white piece of cardstock for the background, handstitched some vertical lines with various colors of embroidery floss and added some punched paper hearts, wood hearts and sequins. This directs the eyes downwards towards the photo. I also added some stickers, and the black foam alphas for the title as well as some wood arrows and ephemera.

For this layout, I began with the vertical hearts patterned paper for the background and punched lots of paper hearts from an assortment of the papers in the kit and embellished with some wood hearts, pink and red sequins, stickers and wood arrows.

For this layout (which is my personal favorite) I drew a freehand heart shape on a piece of white cardstock and hand stitched the heart shape with light pink, red, and medium pink embroidery floss in somewhat of an ombre fashion and then I went crazy with embellishments from the kit.  I also added one flower cut file that I backed with pink patterned paper. This was a fun layout to create.
