Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Hello friends!  Today is my last blog post for 2013.  It was a gorgeous frosty day today and I thought since it was the last day of this year, I would get out and do what I love to do and that is take my camera and go out and take random photos of the mountains and rolling hills in my area.  Here are some randoms:

Spending time in the country taking random photographs is my bliss.  I love it and can't think of anything more relaxing and calming then to see gorgeous mountains.  They bring me peace.  Have a wonderful New Year's Eve.

Scrap Our Stash December 15 Sketch Challenge

Hello friends!  Today is Christmas Eve and my last layout for the year.  At Scrap Our Stash,  I am sharing a Christmas layout of my Christmas tree this year.  It is a bit small for the living room space, but was using a smaller tree this year so I didn't have to struggle with lights.  It's nice and bright.

The challenge is to use the sketch that was designed by Kelly Holifield below and use at least two border punches and one other type of punch.  Scrap Our Stash and Sketch N Scrap are combining challenges for this one.

For my layout I used two different Fiskars border punches, an envelope punch to create the tiny envelopes on the right side of the photo and also a Kreaxions 4 in 1 paper punch to add snowflakes to the envelopes and corners of the layout.

Thanks for spending your time with me today and I hope you are inspired to create a layout.  The deadline to link up at Scrap Our Stash is December 29, 2013 and 11:59 pm PST.  Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays!

Merry & Bright

Happy day my friends!  Today I am sharing a festive layout that I created for Stuck?! Sketches December 15 sketch designed by Laura Whitaker.

Stuck?! Sketches December 15 Sketch - by Laura Whitaker

I stayed true to the sketch and used the Heidi Swapp "Believe" Collection for the patterned papers and created my own ribbon tree with some gorgeous gold ribbon from May Arts.

Merry & Bright - by Lee-Anne Thornton

For the star die cuts and title, I used my Silhouette Cameo.  Christmas to me is all blingy so I took some sequins from my stash to use for the ornaments on the tree and also some little stars to carry through with the star embellishment design.

For the ribbon tree I hand cut a triangle shape out of card stock (about 2 1/2 inches from the tip of the tree to the bottom) and then cut 2" strips of gold ribbon, folded the ribbon in half and glued them together and then glued each folded ribbon piece to the starting at the top of the tree and continuing to adhere the folded ribbon strips until the card stock triangle is completely covered.  I then hand cut a trunk for the tree.  Before adhering the tree to the layout, I wrapped some twine around the tree, tied a little twine bow and added some sequins.

I recently got some new furniture for my studio and wanted to make it look festive for the Christmas season so I purchased a silver star light from Ikea as well as a strand of 38 star lights for my window.  It makes me want to hang out in there every night.

I hope you are inspired with the sketch and my layout.  Come play along and upload your creation at Stuck?! Sketches.  While you are there, come see what the other ladies on the team created with the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy scrapping!
