Easter Tulle Wreath

Hello friends! Easter will be here soon.  I love decorating for Easter so I thought I would take some time and decorate my home with a new Easter Tulle Wreath that I created.

To make the wreath, you will need:

1 pair of scissors
4 spools of tulle (pink, lime green, turquoise, lilac) -  I purchased these at Michael's Arts & Crafts
Ornaments for wreath - I purchased the easter egg ornaments from Michael's and the butterflies and flowers embellishments from the Dollar Tree)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
1- 12 Inch floral wire wreath form - (I purchased this from Michael's Arts And Crafts)
1 - 3 inch 3M Adhesive Command Hook - (I purchased this from Walmart)

Directions:

To begin making the wreath:

Cut several strips of tulle 9 inches long by 2 inches wide.  Cut 60 strips of four colours pink, green, purple and blue. I used seven of each colour and repeated a pattern of pink, purple, green and blue. This works out to 10 of each colour for each section (There are 6 sections for the outer ring).

For the the inside wire of the wire wreath form,  cut 42 strips and (7 of each colour for each section). Again I followed a repeated pattern of pink, purple, green and blue. Again there are 6 sections for the inner ring).

Fold each tulle strip in half and place it underneath the wire and then pull both ends through to make a loop.  This fastens it nicely to the wire without having to glue it. I continued this method around the wreath until it was complete.  Be sure and listen to some great tunes or watch a movie as this will take some time and patience.

After the strips are all completed and tied to the wreath, turn the wreath right side up and fluff it so all the strips are straight and somewhat even.

Place the selected ornaments on the wreath and space them out.  When you are happy with the placement, take the preheated glue gun and hot glue the backside of the ornaments generously with hot glue and press it down on the tulle.

The wreath is now complete!

If you would like to add a hanging ribbon to your wreath so it can be hung on a wreath holder, go ahead and add it. For mine, I hung it on my wall in my eating area using a 3 inch size 3M Adhesive Command Hook.

Please note:  Do not hang this wreath near a heat source or in direct sunlight because tulle is 100% nylon and it will melt.

With these particular spools, I think I have enough tulle and leftover ornaments to create one more wreath.

April 1 Sketch At Stuck?! Sketches

Hello friends! Happy April Fools Day! Today is the beginning of a new month and there is another fabulous sketch to reveal at Stuck?! Sketches. Here is my take on the sketch:

I used the Echo Park Creative Agenda Collection for all the papers and stickers on this layout.  The flair buttons are from A Flair For Buttons and the cute wool heart is from Bella Blvd.  I added some mist splatters here and there with Heidi Swapp's Colorshine in Mustard Yellow.  Finally I added some machine stitching.

Creative Embellishments April 2015 Challenge

Hello friends!  Today is April Fool's Day and it's also a new challenge at Creative Embellishments.  For the April challenge, I was inspired by flowers and butterflies so I created this grid style layout.  Spring is my favorite season because, where I live, the trees, flowers and grass come alive.  It’s a time for renewal.    

For my layout, I painted the white cardstock background with some acrylic paint dabbers and then used the Distressed Chicken Wire Stamp on the right hand side.

  For the title, I fussy cut a letter out of some patterned paper from the We R Memory Keepers Love Notes Collection and then I added the Spring Love Chipboard of which I heat embossed with some gold embossing powder.  For the Be Mine Heart Frame,  I painted it white and dabbed on some pink paint. For the Hearts Panel Chipboard, I cut off a tiny section of the panel, painted it and heat embossed it with some clear embossing powder.

Summertime Layout

Hello friends! Today is my turn at Creative Embellishments and I have created a summer layout using lots of stickers, wood veneer and chipboard embellishments.

For the wood veneer sun, from the Sunny Days set,  I sprayed it with some Heidi Swapp Colorshine Mist in Mustard Yellow

I popped up lots of stickers from and added some black ink lines to make it stand out more.  The stickers and papers are from the Echo Park Summer Bliss Collection.  I also added some sequins here and there and some mist splatters.

For the wood veneer Butterflies, I began by spraying them with some mist, letting them dry and then added an outline with a black pen and some black dots.

For the Summertime chipboard title, I heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

Finally I added a flair button and some alpha letter stickers.

This layout is very embellishment heavy but I'm happy how it turned out as I wanted it to be fun.

Lucky

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Thanks for stopping by.  I was playing around with my Silhouette Cameo and my watercolors and thought I would create a layout of my husband and I on our 15th wedding anniversary last September so beware, this layout is mushy. LOL.

I was inspired by a layout by Nicole Nowosad recently and loved the way she used a Silhouette Sketch Pen and created a background.  I decided to go with it and put my own spin on it.

This took a while to create but I was in no hurry.  It was simply fun!

I heat embossed some Creative Embellishments Chipboard and also used my Silhouette Cameo and a black sketch pen to create the "Lucky" background and then used several shades of blue and green watercolours to fill in the letters.  I cut the title "Lucky" on my Silhouette as well.  This cut file is from The Cut Shoppe.  The shamrocks and the hearst were also cut on my Silhouette Cameo but first I added several washi tape strips over card stock and cut it out on my Cameo.  The top section of the white card stock background was simply watercolored with watercolor paints and water.

I don't journal very often on my layouts, but added some journaling strips that I printed out with my printer.
