My Creative Scrapbook April Tutorial

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share a quick tutorial on how I altered my white foam alphabet stickers that were included in the April Creative Kit for My Creative Scrapbook.

To alter the white foam alphabet stickers on the layout below, I used a black Faber Castell Pitt Big Brush Pen. These pens come in an assortment of colors, are permanent India ink and won't bleed. The ink dries quickly and I have found they are perfect for this technique. The pens are also used in mixed media and stamping images instead of an ink pad. I wanted to alter my title "Girl Squad" in black to coordinate with my layout.

I created a short video on how to do this. Beware, I am a newbie at making videos, but practice makes perfect right? When I get more experienced at this, I will add my voice.
Check it out here:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope I have inspired you to alter your white foam alphabet letters for your projects.

Have a wonderful day!

Live In Colour - A Mixed Media Layout

Hello friends!

Today I am so honoured to be guest designing for Susan Weckesser and excited to share my layout.

I love Susan's bright colours and whimsical papers.  For this layout I used some Liquitex Modeling Paste and a stencil and added some designs to the background as well as some ink splatters with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine Mists in Primrose, and Mint Green.

I then misted a piece of corrugated cardboard.

I fussy cut the sun, a quote card and the bird and house from Susan's patterned papers.  For the sun I adhered some yellow twine and used the stencil to add more texture to the roof of the house.

I stamped with Susan's Unity Heart Stamp with a pink Pitt Big Brush Pen and cut out the heart and layered it underneath my diecut and misted title that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Finally, I journaled and embellished with a cute camera paper clip from Prima and some flair buttons from The Paper Bakery.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #340

Hello everyone!

Today is Monday and that means that Scrapbook Challenges has another sketch reveal!

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #340

I thought this was a great sketch to use up those paper scraps that you have in your stash.  I chose to do a layout of a summer vacation from 2010 where we went to Osoyoos, British Columbia, which is the wine capital of Canada,  and also has a very hot climate that makes it perfect for fruit orchards.  Picking cherries on a 35 degree celscius day was quite the experience!

I bought a little cherry stamp from Michaels and stamped on the cardstock using my Faber Castell Big Brush Pitt Pens to colour the outline of the stamp in green and red and then placed My Mind's Eye Enamel Dots inside the cherries to add more interest and dimension.

There is also lots of washi tape to fill in those spaces to keep the layout balanced and used some twine and also a calendar sticker to place the date.

I used a journal sticker and wrote the journaling with a red gel pen.

I love this photo of my husband and son heading out to pick some cherries.

I placed another journal sticker of our location

I wanted to create a unique title to my page so I used some twine and a fine glue pen and placed the twine down and spelled "picking" and then added an enamel dot to dot the "i".  I then used some letter stickers and faux stitched around the word "picking". The colours green and red were used because of the colour of cherries.

Finally I finished off the layout with some twine and buttons randomly on paper squares.

I hoped you like my layout.  Please check out what the other design team members created at Scrapbook Challenges here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I really appreciate it!
