Christmas Tree - Mixed Media
Last Christmas I made this for a special friend and I thought I would share it again this year.
I am starting to make some Christmas gifts and I am posting this because I know this friend doesn't read my blog. Christy Tomlinson, a mixed media artist has a wonderful free tutorial online at:

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #323
I hope you all had a great weekend. It's hard to believe that Christmas is only a month away. Have you started your decorating, baking and shopping?
Sketch #323 is revealed today at Scrapbook Challenges
I love the simplicity of this sketch and challenged myself to do a two pager of my close friend Anna, who has been my friend since junior high school, was my bridesmaid and still a good friend that I am grateful to have. She is a blessing to me. This layout is of Anna as a nonna (grandmother in Italian).
I used Graphic 45's "A Ladie's Diary" as I wanted something shabby chic/vintage. The lacy paper border was cut with my Silhouette Cameo. Here are some more closeups:
Have a great day!

A Hawaii Layout To Share
Last week, I was on a scrapbooking/photography cruise in Hawaii with Allison Orthner, Jill Hildebrand, and Christy Riopel. What an adventure! There were around 70 ladies from all across Canada and a sweet lady from the U.S. Some brought their significant others, their families, some went with friends, and some went as singles. It was fantastic!
I must admit, I didn't do much scrapbooking, but I did take lots of photos which I will share soon. For now, I wanted to share a layout that I created. One night we had a challenge to select some patterned papers, card stock and embellishments and create a layout in one hour. Now this is a challenge for me as I am a very slow scrapbooker and quite often leave a layout as a work in progress and come back an hour or two later to add some more details. Here is the layout I created from some patterned papers from Susan Weckesser.

It makes me want to be back there in the beauty and warmth of Hawaii. Vacations always go way too fast. Have a great day!

Another Thursday is here and that means Let's Capture These Sketches has another awesome sketch brought to you by the talented Jocelyne Roy.
I love these photos of this cutie that happens to be my daughter's nephew. I used the 2008 Haunted Collection by Cosmo Cricket and it felt good to use up some of my stash.

Sketches In Thyme Sketch #94 Team A & B
It's time for another sketch at Sketches In Thyme and both Team A and Team B are participating.
This layout is of my niece and nephew this past Halloween. I used October Afternoon's Witch Hazel Collection for the papers, stickers and buttons and my trusty Silhouette Cameo to cut the large spider web die cut. Don't they look scary?

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #322
It has been a snowy November so far and since I am a seasonal scrapbooker, I pulled out the old stash of winter papers I had laying around and created this layout of my oldest son skiing last winter. He hadn't skiied in years and had a blast but was stiff and sore afterwards.
This was all created with Echo Park's Winter Park Collection and lots of little dimensional adhesive squares to give it dimension and then inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Weathered Wood and I used my antique sewing machine to stitch around the edges. A simple, grid style layout. Here are the sketches for Scrapbook Challenges this week
I used the single sketch for my inspiration. Come play along with all out sketches at Scrapbook Challenges. Have a great day!

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #321
Another reveal at Scrapbook Challenges and I loved the simplicity of this sketch.
I thought this would be a great sketch to create a layout on my country. I love Canada and am very proud to live in a beautiful, free country.
I used the Echo Park's Sweet Day Collection for the patterned papers and my trusted Silhouette Cameo for the title and the maple leaves. I also finished off the white space with a spattering of Smooch.
While you are here, check out Scrapbook Challenges to see what the entire team created with these sketches and play along. Have a great week!

This sketch, designed by our own Chanell Rigterink, is great for lots of photos of halloween, birthdays, vacations and other events where you want to scrap a lot of photos.
I chose to do the double sketch with all halloween photos.
I used the new Witch Hazel Collection from October Afternoon.

Pumpkin Art
Happy Sunday everyone! In Canada, where I live, we moved our clocks back one hour after midnight today and it was nice to get an extra hour sleep. Did you get to change your clock back too?
Back to scrapbooking....sometimes it's just nice not to have design team assignments and to do a layout on whatever suits my fancy.
I saw a layout created by Corrie Jones on the Little Yellow Bicycle blog that I just loved and was inspired to create a layout on a pumpkin that my husband carved with a hand drill last year.
Have I mentioned that I love my Silhouette Cameo? It has totally changed the way I create and for this one I cut all the leaves and the pumpkin with my Cameo.
The papers are older papers from My Mind's Eye called the "Spooked" collection. I used letter stickers and some stickers from October Afternoon's Witch Hazel Collection and a white gel pen to outline the leaves and the pumpkin. It was a lot of fun to create.
I hope you like it and I always appreciate comments on my blog. It is something I work very hard on and would love if you would leave a comment. It means a lot to me and I know some of you visit regularly. I have disabled the thingy so you don't have to try and read the letters and numbers to try and leave a comment and then give up on it after two or three attempts. So please let me know what you really think of my blog. I am always willing to follow your blog as well.
Have a great Sunday!
