Bloom

Hello friends! Happy Friday! Today I am sharing a mixed media layout over at A Flair For Buttons using a flair button from the In The Garden flair set.

I love Daylilies and I love to garden and I thought this flair button was perfect for this layout.

To create this layout, I used two different cut files from Just Nick, my Silhouette Cameo, white card stock, black card stock, Heidi Swapp Colorshine Mists, Bella Blvd. Enamel Dots and Doodads, some papers and stickers from the Bella Blvd. Color Chaos Collection, sequins, my sewing machine to stitch around the outside edge, and a small circle paper punch.  I also used dimensional squares to give the flower cut file some dimension.

Here are some closeups:

Earlier this week, I blogged a tutorial on how I use the "cellophane stamping technique" on my layouts.   I also used it for this layout.  Please find the blog post here.

Be sure to check out all the flair buttons in the A Flair For Buttons shop, and also Just Nick Digital Cut Files for amazing cut files that you can cut out on your electronic die cutting machines.

Have a lovely day!

Happy Lovely Beautiful

Hello friends! It's Wednesday and I have another layout to share with you today.

This past June, my sister-in-law got married again.  To explain things further, my brother passed away 9 years ago at the age of 38 leaving behind his wife Pam and his two children Laine that was 4 years old and Dylan that was 2 years old.  It was a very hard time for Pam and my family but life goes on and this past summer Pam got married again to a wonderful guy that we have welcomed into our family.  We are so happy that Pam found love and happiness again and we know that my brother would have approved of her choice in a new mate.

I thought I would document this special time for Pam so I created a layout of her on her wedding day.

For this layout I used a Fiskars Hexagon Paper Punch, a 6X6 paper pad of the new Crate Paper's Wonder Collection, the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to make the paper bows, some mist splatters from Heidi Swapp Colorshine Mists in Seafoam, Blush and Black Velvet, a 12X12 piece of white card stock, a doily, some old Basic Grey chipboard alphas and some old Fancy Pants buttons and sequins in my stash.

I love using 6X6 paper pads for layouts.  The prints are a little smaller than the 12X12 papers and I love to use my paper punches on these.  Patterned paper has to be my favorite scrapbooking item.

The paper bows are a great way to embellish the layout give it a feminine touch.  They are so fun and easy to make using a We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a good week.

Guest Designing At CSI for Creative Embellishments

Hello friends! I hope you are having a good week.  For the month of April, the Creative Embellishments design team have been invited to be guest designers over at CSI.  Not only is Creative Embellishments guest designing, we are also one of the sponsors for this month.  Here is my layout for CSI's Case File No. 161

Here is the inspiration image and how I solved CSI Case File No. 161

I was inspired to create a nautical layout for this challenge.  I added all five colors to my layout and added circles, wet medium, architectural accents, stripes, clouds, triangles, stars, ombre, metal and something that flies as my "evidence" elements.  For the "testimony" I added some journaling written in a circle and used the word "whim" in my journaling.  Here are some closeups

I hope you are inspired to give CSI Case No. 161 a try.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful and creative day!

Stuck?! Sketches July 15 Sketch And Reveal

Hello friends! Today there is a brand new sketch to share with you and also my layout. For this layout I created a mixed media layout with paints, sprays, stencils, modelling paste, gesso, stamps, punches and die cuts.  The leaves and flowers die cut below the big flower was designed by Anita Bownds and the flower on top is from Silhouette America.  For the papers, I used the Simple Life Collection by Echo Park.

Here is the sketch designed by Laura Whitaker…

Practical Scrappers June Blog Hop - Use Your Stash

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the June Blog Hop at Practical Scrappers.  For this month and every month we are scrapping our stash.  I don't know about you, but I know as a scrapbooker I have lots of stash so it's great to use it up.

Here is a list of the hoppers for June.

You should have arrived here from Ruth's blog but if not you can begin at the Practical Scrappers website.  This is the monthly blog hop where the design team members and anyone else that wanted to join the hop can use our scrapbooking stash.  The rule is that the scrappy items have to be in your stash pre CHA.  That means that any scrappy items that came out before January 2014, which was the last CHA (Craft And Hobby Association Show) qualifies for this blog hop.  This is a great way to use up old paper collections and embellishments as I don't know about you, but I have enough stash for two lifetimes. LOL.

For my layout, I have several mists in my stash that I used to make the watercolour effect on my background of white card stock. I then took out some leftover patterned papers from the Carta Bella Cool Summer Collection and matted my photos and also cut an accordion flower and the word "beautiful" on my Silhouette Cameo.  The pink chipboard letter stickers and pearls have been in my stash forever.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Now hop on over to the talented Bobbi to see what she has created.  Thanks for stopping by!
