Canada Layout For A Flair For Buttons

Hello friends! I hope you are having a good weekend so far.  If you are looking for the blog hop please go here.

Today I am up on the A Flair For Buttons  blog with another layout and today it's all about my country Canada.  The Canada Flair Buttons set have recently been added to the shop and when I saw these I had to create a layout.  I painted my nation's colors of red and white and die cut some maple leaves (which are on the Canada Flag) on my Silhouette Cameo as well as the Canada die cut title.  I also used some washi tape and stickers from Bella Blvd. as well as some Tim Holtz Distress Paints in the colors Picket Fence and Barn Door.

Here is the flair button set that I created with for this layout.  It can be found in the A Flair For Buttons Store.

May 2015 Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop

Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying the blog hop so far.  Aren't the projects truly amazing and inspiring?  You should have arrived here from Kristy's blog but if not,  here is the hop list so you don't miss a thing:

When my family gets together, we play board games or play cards so I searched my paper stash and found some great papers from the Carta Bella's Well Played Collection from 2013.  It is such a strong high quality paper that is perfect to hand stitch on because it doesn't bend easily.  I also used four colors of DMC embroidery floss and stitched around several of the circle elements.  All the circles were created with a various sizes of circle paper punches including the photos.  To add to the circle theme, flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons were added to as well as some mist splatters, sequins and enamel dots.  The layout was inspired by a sketch designed by Allison Davis.

Canada Day 2013 Layout

Hello friends! Happy Sunday! Today I am up on the A Flair For Buttons Blog and I am excited to share a layout I created of a special day in Canada.  Annually on July 1, Canada celebrates Canada Day to honor my country's birthday.  There are parades, festivals and fireworks across the country to mark this special occasion.

I wanted to add lots and lots of needlework to my layout so I traced the outline of my card stock background with a piece of card stock in the same shape.  For the title "Canada" and the maple leaf flourish, I began with two Silhouette designs found in the Silhouette Online Store and used a red sketch pen in my Silhouette Cameo to sketch the design.  This provided a template for my stitching.  I then took my paper piercer and pierced holes evenly along the sketch lines and then used 3 strands of red embroidery floss and stitched the designs.  This definitely requires some patience and although it is time consuming, it is worth it in the end.  It definitely brings back memories of my cross-stitch days when I stitched many projects before I discovered scrapbooking.

Here are more closeup photos of my layout:

I also cut some maple leaf die cut shapes on vellum and red cardstock with my Silhoutte Cameo to give some interest and dimension.  I also added some red sequins to embellish the layout as well as some flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons.

Here are the flair that I used to create this layout:

Play Layout For A Flair For Buttons

Hello friends!  Happy Thursday!  Today I wanted to share a layout I created with some awesome flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons  and lots of papers and embellishments from the new Fancy Pants Designs Office Suite Collection.  I am loving the gold trend and the soft color palette of this collection.

In my stash of flair, I found three flair buttons that I thought would be perfect for this layout.  I wanted it to be fun and playful just like these two sisters were. I placed them on the layout to create a visual triangle.

I added some sewing machine stitching to add some interest and texture and made the paper bow below with my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out these flair and many more in the Flair For Buttons Etsy Store.

Us 2014 Layout For The May 2015 Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Sketchy Challenge

Hello friends! Happy Sunday! Yesterday was National Scrapbook Day and I did a little scrapbooking.  There are so many scrapbooking websites that were having lots of challenges, but I was inspired by a sketch created by Sue Sykes for the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine May Sketchy Challenge.

This layout was a little difficult to create because these two gorgeous girls are sisters.  Alley is the brunette and Katey is the blonde.  Alley passed away tragically recently at the tender age of 21.

As I have also lost a sibling, my youngest brother eight years ago, it touched me and I wanted to honor Katey and Alley.

I always love creating with Fancy Pants Designs beautiful papers and embellishments.  This layout is created with the new Office Suite Collection.  I love the soft colors combined with the black.

There are tons of embellishments on this grid style layout.  The labels, buttons, die cuts, tags, alphas, and sequins are all from the Fancy Pants Office Suite Collection.

I also added a few flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons .

There is some sewing machine stitching from my ancient Kenmore sewing machine that I have had for almost 35 years.  It still works great!

I used the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to create the paper bow below.

Here is the awesome sketch that inspired me.  I also love grid style layouts and sketches.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great day!
