A Card To Share...

Happy New Year!  I hope you have a wonderful, happy, healthy, prosperous new year.

I was asked a while back if I would create a card for someone on the other end of the globe who is battling cancer and although I am not a card maker, I felt the need to encourage someone. Apparently, the card recipient loves shoes and I thought I would create a girly card with a shoe.

Echo Park Be Mine Collection
Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink
Queen and Co. Rhinestones
My Little Shoebox Mini Letter Stickers
Prima Resin Flower
American Crafts Cardstock
American Crafts Ribbon
American Crafts Foam Adhesive Squares
Marvy Uchida Black Pen
Helmar 450 Adhesive
Helmar Gemstone Glue
Silhouette Cameo
I used my sewing machine and stitched around the edge of the pink paper.  My stitching is a little crooked I see. LOL.  I then used my Silhouette Cameo and cut out a shoe design and a delicate doily design.  I then added some bling and a sheer ribbon around the heel.

Finally, I created an envelope with coordinating papers from the same collection and used my Scor-Pal and here it is!

It feels good to create for someone that needs a little boost.  Maybe in the new year I will make more cards to brighten someone's day and use up my scraps from my layouts.

Have a wonderful time celebrating the new year and see you in 2013!

My Favourite 12 Of 2012

All I can say is this has been a fantastic year for me for scrapbooking and if I had to look back on 2012 I would say that I enjoyed every minute of my design teams, the friendships and the way scrapbooking has helped me in so many personal ways.  Thanks to all of you who read my blog and also that leave comments in your busy day.  I truly appreciate it!  As my blog title reads "Love The Journey....living life to the fullest one day at a time".  I can honestly say creativity feeds my soul and I hope it does yours too or whatever you choose to call your hobby or something you enjoy.

In 2012, I created a total of 125 layouts.  Not that I'm counting, but with being on 5 design teams, it keeps a girl happy and busy.  All of these layouts mean something special to me, because I create with my heart and soul and usually I scrapbook whatever person, animal or thing that is on my mind for that day.  There are about three I have out for publication at the moment, so I wasn't able to share those layouts, but here are some of my personal 12 favourites:

Layout created for Scrap It With A Song - One Thousand Years

My daughter and her dog Elly
A layout created for Scrap It With A Song for our personal favourite Christmas carol.  Silent Night
A layout created For Scrapbook Challenges of our great Canadian winters.
A layout created for Twisted Sketches of my son at the beach.
A layout created for Let's Capture These Sketches of my husband's aunt who was a nurse in Ethiopia and Kenya for 30 years.
My late brother Dean who passed away 6 years ago.  This was created for Let's Capture These Sketches
A layout on Elly for Scrapbook Challenges

A Halloween Layout created for Scrapbook Challenges
A layout of my dear friend.  Created for Scrapbook Challenges

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day and hope that you take some time to do something you love.

Scrapbooking Goals?

It is nearing the end of 2012 and everyone is looking toward the new year.  Do you have any scrapbooking/creative goals and resolutions?

For 2013, I have set some new goals and one of them is to make some time to create some cards, altered projects, art journaling and mixed media as 2012 I have put those on the shelf.  I love mixed media, and  art journaling but my scraproom needs to be organized more and I need to have a place that I can leave out my paints and different mediums to create on a whim.

Altering Items

Art Journal Doodling

Blogging (Sort of LOL)
Mixed Media

What are your scrapbooking goals?  Is it to make more time for creating, taking some classes or just to continue what you are doing now?  I would love to hear from you.

Have a great day and enjoy the last few days of 2012 doing something you love to do.

Some Exciting News To Share!!!

I have some exciting news to share and it totally surprised me.

Every morning,  I read the Calgary Herald Online Edition, which is my hometown newspaper.  The city of Calgary has a population of over a million people and you can understand how flattered and honoured I was  to read  today's edition, when I saw my blog listed under "Calgary Top Bloggers".  It is categorized under "Calgary Lifestyle Blogs"  You can see it here.  It is listed under "Calgary Lifestyle Blogs" as Love The Journey.

Wowsers! This really made my day as I spend a lot of time with my blog and thoroughly enjoy blogging, but had no idea about this.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you stop by often as I plan on blogging a lot in 2013.  Have a good night!

What Is Your Scrapbooking Style?

What is your scrapbooking style?  Do you know what your style is?  Are you:

Graphic
Artsy
Classic
Grungy
Shabby Chic
Whimsical
Sophisticated
Cutesy
Clean & Simple

Maybe you are a combination of two or more?  Practical Scrappers has a nice little feature on finding your style.

My style is whatever my mood is and what mood I want to create with my photos and layout.  It can change from one layout to the next.  Yes I am moody! LOL.  I love trying different styles and buying many different colours of patterned paper.  I love trying new techniques and textures.  I sometimes like to focus on the photo and keep the layout clean and simple.  It's fun for me to try changing my photos to black and white or sepia to create a mood or style.  For me, I love colour and am inspired by colour a lot!

In 2012, I created many different styles of layouts, or at least I think I did:

Classic or Sophisticated?
Shabby Chic
Artsy
Artsy

Whimsical & Artsy?

?
Sort of Classic and Shabby Chic?
I am not sure LOL.

After a while, I think my layouts sort of have a similarity to them even though they are different, if that makes any sense LOL.

I have also come to the conclusion that my style can be different with each layout and I do know that I prefer to scrapbook one photo and use a clean design.  I also think I tend to choose the same paper manufacturers over and over again but I love all the different companies.  Two pagers are a challenge for me, but I try to push myself to work outside my comfort zone sometimes.  I definitely do know that I am not really a grungy girl.  One thing I do know for sure is that I like to have fun with my scrapbooking and walk away knowing that  whatever I created felt good for me.  Art to me is something that should make a person feel good.  There are no mistakes in art and a person should not compare their art with others.  It should be soothing to your soul.

Thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment on what you think my style is.  I would also love to hear what your style is.  Have a great day!
