So Sweet

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share a girly layout that I created for design team work at A Flair For Buttons.

I added three flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons to the middle of all three flowers to add some whimsy and dimension.

I used a hole paper punch to punch all the confetti and a heart paper punch for the flowers. The flowers were inspired by a technique of Paige Evan's where she created flowers from a heart punch.

Whenever I can, I try to use up every morsel of patterned paper so for this layout, I chose the bright, happy colors from the Petite Prints Collection (Gingham And Linen) by Doodlebug Designs. All of the patterned papers were from the 6 X 6 pad.

Recently, I bought a Stitch Happy sewing machine from We R Memory Keepers so I stitched some of the hearts below the title with the aqua thread.

I also used my We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter to type my journaling on the white cardstock paper strip.

I added some puffy stickers from American Crafts for my title and embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by and I encourage you to try and use up your paper scraps by adding confetti and punched shapes on your projects.

Have a lovely day!

Fresh Flowers

Hello friends! If you are looking for the blog hop, please click here.

Today I am sharing my final and sixth layout using the September Creative Kit at My Creative Scrapbook.

For this layout, I added square scraps of patterned paper that I had left over from the kit and layered them on a white cardstock background.

I placed the photo on the right and added some stickers to the left of the photo.

For my title I added the word "Fresh" from the Heidi Swapp Gold Acetate Words and "Flowers" from the woodgrain chipboard included in the kit.

This was a fun, simple layout to create and it's a great way to use lots of papers and create layers.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the September kits at My Creative Scrapbook. September is FREE gift month and with every September kit purchased there will be a free gift included in the kits.

Laura Whitaker designs some amazing sketches. Here is the fabulous sketch I worked with:

and I was given the My Creative Scrapbook September Creative Kit. I love this kit so much. I love the colors and all the beautiful papers, stickers and embellishments that scream Fall.

September Creative Kit - My Creative Scrapbook

I tried to be somewhat true to the sketch but flipped it a bit by placing the photo on the left side of the page. I matted my photo on some striped paper so it would stand out from the brown chevron background paper and added some paper strips and a border strip behind the photo.

I added some pieces from the ephemera pack that comes with the kit to the left hand side and added a foam dot to the "Fall Is In The Air" ephemera piece to add some dimension. Gold sequins were included in the kit so I sprinkled a few around the page in a visual triangle to lead the eyes around the page.

I also added the ephemera piece "falling for you" to the right side of the photo and popped it up with a foam dot for dimension as well.

The kit also included some really cute gold acetate words from Heidi Swapp so I added the word "fabulous" for part of the title as well as the cardstock sticker  "Fall".  The plaid tree and cute little pickup truck were also added in a cluster with some pop dots for dimension.

Next up on the hop is the talented Ashley Smith. I'm sure she will have something gorgeous to share with you.

Be sure and check out Stuck?! Sketches for lots of sketch inspiration and also check out the monthly kits at My Creative Scrapbook.  Have a wonderful day!

Paper Piecing Tutorial For My Creative Scrapbook

Hello friends! Today I thought I would share a quick tutorial on how I created the paper strip base of this layout using paper strips from the September Creative Kit at My Creative Scrapbook.

Supplies

1 - 12X12 sheet of white cardstock
Paper trimmer
Scissors
Tape runner adhesive
Several paper strips from the September Creative Kit

Instructions

With a paper trimmer cut four squares of white cardstock measuring 4 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches.

Cut several paper strips 1/2 inch wide by at least 4 1/2 inches long.

Starting at the left side, adhere paper strips to white cardstock square.

Add another paper strip to the bottom edge of the white cardstock square being sure to adhere the left edge of the paper strip up against the first paper strip edge as shown below. Trim the edges flush with the white cardstock edge.

Continue adding paper strips to the left hand side and the bottom side as shown.

Continue in this fashion until paper strips are covering the entire square. Repeat with all four squares of white cardstock.  The four squares are now complete. On another note, I don't know what happened, but I accidentally deleted the last few photos of paper strips to complete each cardstock square, but I am hoping that you get the idea.

As you can see on my layout below, I added the four paper strip squares to the brown background paper as shown below. I chose to add the squares so they are about half an inch apart matching up the paper strips and having the direction of the paper strips appear like one large square. I thought they looked like two large brackets like these...[ ] .

To complete my layout I added the the digital cut files that were included in the kit and cut them on white cardstock with my electronic die cutting machine placing them on the page and then adding the photo, title and embellishments. Finally, I tried out my new sewing machine and machine stitched a scalloped stitch in aqua thread around the edge of the brown paper background.

Here are some closeups of my layout.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and give this a try. It is a great way to use up papers from the kit.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

So Lucky

Hello! Happy Sunday! Today I wanted to share another layout that I created with the September Creative Kit at My Creative Scrapbook.

This layout is of my dog Syd when he was a puppy last Fall. He loved going for walks in the forest and it was hilarious to watch him run after the falling leaves and try to catch them in his mouth.

I love the woodgrain background paper so I chose it for the background. The papers, stickers and ephemera are from the A Perfect Autumn Collection by Echo Park Paper. For the title, I used the Amy Tangerine woodgrain chipboard alpha stickers from the kit and the word "lucky" from the Heidi Swapp Gold Acetate Words.

I matted my photo on brown patterned paper and added a little phrase sticker. The journaling cards in the kit's ephemera pack were added to the right side of the photo and I popped a little squirrel up on some pop dots.

I wanted to create a fun, whimsical layout. I knew I wanted to use some of the ephemera and stickers of the bear and owl in this kit.

I added my journaling to the journaling card and added the jar sticker, a tiny journaling tag and the twine that I tied in a double bow and added a sticker to the center of the bow.

Below is the September 2017 Fall Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook. I love Fall and I love this Fall themed kit.
