Three Or More July Challenge - Frames

Hello scrappy friends!  Today at Three Or More we are revealing our first challenge. The challenge is to create a layout with three or more photos and to add an extra twist to this challenge by adding frames to your layout.

For my layout I created more of a mixed media layout of my summer vacation two years ago.  I love the ocean and wanted to create a beachy feel to this page.  For the frames, I edited my photos on my iPhone in an app named Photoshop Express.  I love this app and it has lots of cool frames.  I thought the frame "bleached matte" would make it look like the ocean.

I began my layout with a white piece of card stock and added some clear gesso to it and let it dry.  I then added some Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Gathered Twigs and four different stencils and also some splatters and distress stains.  I added more texture to look like "foamy water" with cheesecloth and also added some packing paper.  I love the Fancy Pants Designs Park Bench Collection and have been hoarding some of the leftovers of this collection since last year so I layered some of the patterned papers and stickers from the collection.

For the chipboard lighthouse, I wanted it to have a brick effect so I adhered drywall tape and then cut around the windows.  I then added some stamps, sprays, distress paint and splatters.  If you are looking to create lots of texture, drywall tape is inexpensive and it works perfectly.

I matted my photos with some corrugated paper in black and turquoise

I hope you enjoyed your visit and come join in the fun of July's challenge.  Link up your creation at Three Or More blog here and also see what the other design team members created for this challenge.

Have a nice day!

Black With 2 July Moodboard And Layout

Hello friends!  Today is reveal day at Black With 2 and I would like to share my layout that I created with the Black With 2 Moodboard for July.  In November 2012, I was very fortunate to go on a scrapbooking/photography cruise to Hawaii.  It was my first time travelling to Hawaii and the first time on a cruise.  I captured this sunset on a black sand beach on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kauai.

Here are a few closeups of my layout….

Here is the mood board that I used to create my layout.  For the photo, I cut the photo into thirds and matted it onto some black corrugated paper.  I used black, grey and orange papers and embellishments and also some orange sequins to embellish the sun that I stencilled with some orange paint as well as strung some sequins on a black string to create a border below the photo.

I hope you are inspired to create from the Black With 2 July Moodboard.  Come see what the design team came up with for the mood board and link up your entry for a chance to win a prize here.  Thanks for stopping by.

Practical Scrappers June Blog Hop - Use Your Stash

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the June Blog Hop at Practical Scrappers.  For this month and every month we are scrapping our stash.  I don't know about you, but I know as a scrapbooker I have lots of stash so it's great to use it up.

Here is a list of the hoppers for June.

You should have arrived here from Ruth's blog but if not you can begin at the Practical Scrappers website.  This is the monthly blog hop where the design team members and anyone else that wanted to join the hop can use our scrapbooking stash.  The rule is that the scrappy items have to be in your stash pre CHA.  That means that any scrappy items that came out before January 2014, which was the last CHA (Craft And Hobby Association Show) qualifies for this blog hop.  This is a great way to use up old paper collections and embellishments as I don't know about you, but I have enough stash for two lifetimes. LOL.

For my layout, I have several mists in my stash that I used to make the watercolour effect on my background of white card stock. I then took out some leftover patterned papers from the Carta Bella Cool Summer Collection and matted my photos and also cut an accordion flower and the word "beautiful" on my Silhouette Cameo.  The pink chipboard letter stickers and pearls have been in my stash forever.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Now hop on over to the talented Bobbi to see what she has created.  Thanks for stopping by!

Anchors Away Layout

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a great day so far.  Today I wanted to share a layout that I created for the June Challenge at Creative Embellishments as well as the "In The Navy" Challenge going on at Paper Issues.   That song is so catchy! The challenge is to create something nautical and I had the perfect photos and papers for both challenges.  Also, I have been hoarding some nautical chipboard pieces for quite a while so it was a no brainer to use them.

Here are some more detailed closeups of my page.  I dabbed a bit of Tim Holtz Distress Paint,  in Picket Fence, over the corrugated background paper to give it more of a weathered look.  The chipboard pieces were first covered with embossing powder and then I brushed some distress paint to give them more of a weathered look as well.  The title was cut on my Silhouette Cameo.  My husband and I love the ocean and this was such a fun day at the Comox Marina looking at all the sailboats and boats.

This layout was created from a sketch designed by Sue Sykes for the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge for June.  I flipped the sketch to the right.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Thanks for visiting my blog.  Have a great day!

Supplies Used For This Layout:

Diecuts - Silhouette America
Corrugated Paper - Fancy Pants Designs

My First Publication In Scrapbook Generation's Create Magazine!

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Today I am very honoured and excited to share that I have a layout published in Create Magazine!  This is a new free monthly digital paper crafting magazine that began publishing in January 2014.  My layout in the June 2014 issue is on page 212.  Check out this jam packed magazine that focuses on sketches but has so much more.  It's their biggest issue yet.  Check it all out here.

I love everything about Fancy Pants Designs and this layout was created from the As You Wish Collection.  I cut out the title on the gold foil paper with my Silhouette Cameo and also the gold tag behind the photo and the little gold hearts.  The flowers are fussy cut and I also cut strips of patterned paper from the collection and added some sewing mating stitching to the strips.  The photos were created with Turbo Collage, which is photo collage software, and the coloured text was added with the software as well.  This is the first layout that I have published in this particular magazine.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.  I hope you all have a wonderful day.

My Creative Sketches June Sketch

Hello scrappy friends!  I am happy to share the June Sketch for My Creative Sketches.  It was a fun sketch to scrap with and Liz Chidester always designs a fabulous one.

Here is the layout I created

Triangles are a challenge for me but it was nice to work out of my comfort zone.  I decided to create a stencil from a digital cut file and cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo.  I used several distress inks and some stamps for texture.  I had a chipboard embellishment that I added for some more depth and interest as well as some wood shapes,  pearls, stickers and a flair button.

The ocean brings me peace.  I love going to Vancouver Island.  It reminds me so much of Hawaii in beauty.  Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a chance to play and link up your layout for a chance and an amazing prize from My Creative Scrapbook.  The kits are outstanding and there are at least four every month to choose from.  One for every scrapbooker's style as well as Project Life.

Stuck?! Sketches June 15 Sketch And Reveal And June Mood Board At Scrap Around The World

Hello friends!  Today is the Stuck?! Sketches reveal and sketch for June 15.  Once again, Laura Whitaker designed this awesome sketch...

I chose some photos of some flowers that I photographed two summers ago while vacationing at my brother's home.  He has the most amazing backyard.

This layout has lots of different mediums on it.  It was great messy play!  I love creating a mixed media layout occasionally.

Been Busy Lately….

Hello friends!  Hope everyone is doing good.  I apologize that I haven't been blogging lately, but I wanted to let you know that there have been some personal matters that I have had to address and there hasn't been time to blog or scrapbook lately.

The past month has been a whirlwind of doctor's appointments, laboratory tests, specialist appointments, a biopsy, ultrasounds and an MRI and frankly I am glad it is over for now.  My health has been my priority these days as I haven't been feeling well and there has been more than one health issue happening.  Unfortunately, I haven't been dealt some good cards and the doctor has said that 85% is genetic and 15% is what I do to make things better.  I have had some health scares of late and it makes me realize what is really important in this life.  Without health, a person doesn't have anything.  Nothing else really matters.

I have done some grieving and working through accepting my situation and now I am ready to put in an honest effort and do what I can do to make my health better.  That means a lifestyle change and that means a lot of different changes.  I have to do this for me and my family.

I have scaled back my design team commitments lately and realize that I have to have more balance in my daily routine.  Scrapbooking is my passion and I love it so much and miss being able to do it more lately so I haven't been blogging as much.  For now, I am still creating, but not at a crazy pace that I had been doing for almost three years.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you all have an awesome day!

You Are My World Layout

Hello friends!  Thanks for stopping by!  Today I would like to share a layout I created with a sketch by Jenny Evans and a cut file by Jess Mutty.

I used the As You Wish Collection by Fancy Pants for all the papers and stickers and also fussy cut the title and globe.  I cut out the circle background with my Silhouette Cameo and also used my sewing machine to add some machine stitching for more interest and texture.

This photo is a special photo to me because my only daughter was a year old in this photo and we are both survivors.  I won't go into a lot of details, but let's just say I just about lost her due to a horrible, freak accident when she was nine years old and she just about lost me due to an illness immediately after childbirth.

This is the fifth layout I have made with this collection and I can't get enough of it.  Thanks for visiting and hope you get some time to do something you love.

Stuck?! Sketches June 1 Sketch And Reveal

If you are hopping along with the May Blog Hop at Practical Scrappers, please go here.

Hello scrappy friends!  Today is the June 1 design team sketch reveal at Stuck?! Sketches.  Laura Whitaker does it again and I loved working with this sketch.

For my layout,  I used the Homespun Collection by Simple Stories for all the papers and the cute frame transparencies that are placed over the photos.  I also used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the title as well as the heart view master card die cut.  I also used some Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Mists for splatters on my page.  The little hearts on the page were fussy cut and finally I added some embellishments from Maya Road as well as some enamel dots from My Mind's Eye. To make the papers pop more I matted some of them on some black card stock.

Photos are courtesy of Rockwood Photography

I hope you are inspired to play along with us at Stuck?! Sketches.  There are some cool prizes and the deadline is June 29, 2014 at midnight to link up for this sketch.  Check out all the details and what the other team members created here.

Have a lovely day!
