Horses Forever Mini Album

Happy Sunday!  Today I wanted to share a mini album that I created for my niece Laine.  It's been a long time since I have made a mini album and it was fun!  My niece is a horse lover and she loves to ride and compete.  Cameo her horse is pretty special to her.  Funny, we both love our Cameo's.  Haha.

For this album I cut out the album pages with Silhouette Chipboard and my Silhouette Cameo and dressed it up with papers and stickers from the Giddy Up Girl Collection by Carta Bella.  The papers are nice and strong and perfect for mini albums.   I didn't go embellishment crazy because I wanted it to lay somewhat flat and make the photos more of the focus.  Please excuse the poor quality photos.  I took these in a hurry.  Here is my album:

I hope you enjoyed and are inspired to try a mini album.  I am looking forward to giving it to my niece. She took most of the photos and I want to surprise her.  Have a great day!

Supplies:

Cardstock - DCWV

Pen - Marvy Uchida
Ribbon - American Crafts
Stickers - Carta Bella Giddy Up Girl Collection

Flowerpot Mixed Media Layout

Hello friends!  Happy Thursday.  Today I am sharing my mixed media layout over at Susan K. Weckesser.  Since it is now Spring here in Canada, I can't help but think about gardening and all the flowers that are popping up such as tulips and daffodils.

My layout below has lots of different mediums on it.  My definition of mixed media is lots of layers using paints, inks, stencils, sprays, and lots of texture and dimension.

For this layout I worked with Susan K. Weckesser's Live In Color Collection.  First I fussy cut some flowers and the title "Live In Full Color" as well as drew freehand and cut a flower pot.

I then ran the flowerpot through my embossing machine with a weaved basket embossing folder to give it more texture and dimension then inked it with some distress ink.

Next I took some modelling paste and a brick stencil and added it the paper as shown. I felt that it  needed some color so I used a paint dabber in a beige color and dabbed the bricks.  When the brick background was completely dry,  I added some paint splats in red and yellow with my acrylic paint dabbers.

I adhered the stencilled paper to the kraft background and then added my flowers and flowerpot, which I gave more depth by adding some pop dots.  I thought the flowers needed something so I added some Liquid Glass and some yellow Stickles to the center of the red flower and when they were dry, I outlined with a fine black pen.  Finally I used Susan's stencil and added some "grass" with a green paint dabber and and around the top right and bottom left with a white paint dabber.

Here are some more closeups

I am going to put this in a 12X12 scrapbook frame and add it to my studio.  I hope I have inspired you to create.  Have a wonderful day!

Practical Scrappers March Blog Hop - Scrapping Our Stash

Hello scrappy friends!  Today at Practical Scrappers we are having a blog hop and there is lots of inspiration to get your scrap on.  You should have arrived here from Erin's blog but if not, you can start back at the beginning at the Practical Scrappers link.

I created a layout of my daughter on her wedding day.  I used lots of die cuts and feminine papers that I had left over after creating some cards and a layout with the Tea Break Collection from
Kaisercraft.

There was a lot of layering and I also used a stencil and coloured some modelling paste with some Tim Holtz Distress Paint and sprayed the roses with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist in Primrose and added some lace and pearls.  The title "beautiful" was cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Thanks for hopping by.  I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Next on the hop is the talented Bobbi Smith.

Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine March Sketchy Challenge

Hello friends!  Every month I try to play along with the Sketchy Challenge at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  Here is the March Sketch designed by Sue Sykes
Here is the layout that I came up with for the sketch

I used an assortment of older collections of Bella Blvd. for the papers and fussy cut the tree and flower and cut the title, bow border, photo corners and embellishments with my Silhouette Cameo.  Finally I added some sequins.  I love sequins at the moment and use them on most of my layouts these days.  Purple is a difficult color for me but think that this turned out okay.  I didn't want to change the photo to black and white for this layout so tried to work with the purple.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!
