My Layouts Published in Fall 2017 Creative Scrapbooker Magazine

Hello friends! It's been a while since I have posted. Life has been busy and with so many big stressors in my life right now, I have had to focus more on family and priorities. I miss scrapbooking as much as I have done in the past. It truly is so therapeutic.

Every so often really good things come along and at the present, they are welcomed more than ever. I have two layouts published in the Fall 2017 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine that should be on newsstands September 1.

The first layout on page 126 is of my puppy Syd and all the hikes we have done with him. This was originally for design team work when I was on the Paper House Productions design team last term.

The second layout, Pumpkin Pie on page 117 was created last Fall for design team work at My Creative Scrapbook using the 2016 November Creative Kit. If you know me, you know that I love to bake and so I thought I would create a layout of Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving.

It is always a thrill to be published and I have been very honored to be published in Creative Scrapbooker Magazine many times since the Spring 2013 issue.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I hope you have an awesome day!

Havin' A Ball

Hello friends! I thought I would share another summer layout that I have created for design team work at A Flair For Buttons.

I really had fun with this layout. I began with a cut file designed by Stacie Dietz for Paper Issues and used my sketch pens and my Silhouette Cameo to trace around the design and then I hand stitched with embroidery floss. After the stitching was completed, I watercolored with some distress inks that I stamped on a craft mat and spritzed with some water and applied with a water brush to the flowers and leaves in colors that coordinated with my patterned papers and stickers from the Summer Fun Collection by Simple Stories. As you can see I added several phrase stickers from the the collection's sticker sheet and fussy cut the title and beach ball to create my title. Since I don't do Project Life projects, I like to use the 3X4 cards for other uses such as fussy cutting them and using them for titles, diecuts or words

Embellishing is my favorite part of the process. I always grab for my flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons to see if any of the flair will work for my layouts. For this layout, I chose a flair button from the Fun Flair 1 set, one from the Say Hello To Summer set and one from the Inspirational Word 4 set and placed them in a visual triangle to draw the eyes around the entire layout. Here are a few more closeups:

This layout was a little time consuming, but I like to sit on my deck with a nice cold drink on a hot summer's day and stitch to my heart's content.

I hope you are inspired to handstitch, use watercolors and add flair buttons to a layout. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Succulents

Hello friends! It's been a while since I have posted anything on my blog. This summer I have really enjoyed hanging out in my yard gardening and also planting lots of succulents. I have added some pots of these awesome plants both indoors and outdoors and have made several miniature gardens with them too. They are so easy to take care of. That is what my layout is about today...my love for succulents.

When I saw the Cacti Love Flair in the A Flair For Buttons shop, I knew they would be perfect for this layout. I chose two of the flair buttons from the set and placed them on my "cactus",  a cut file from Just Nick Digital Cut Files from the Cactus Jack cut file set, that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

I wanted to create a visual triangle with the flair buttons and the cactus die cut on the top left hand corner of the photo.

I added some white gesso to the pink background paper and added lots of paint splatters. I backed the cactus cut file with several patterned papers from the American Crafts Saturday Collection. I also hand stitched around the cactus and pot with embroidery floss.

Be sure and check out all the fabulous flair buttons in the A Flair For Buttons shop. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
