Altered Letter For Susan K. Weckesser

Hello there friends!  I hope you are having an amazing day!  Today I am excited to share with you my Altered Letter that I created using Susan K. Weckesser's awesome patterned papers from her "Live In Color" Collection. It was so much fun to create and very freeing.  It was a great time to use up some of my stash.  Recently, I got a wonderful birthday gift from my husband.  He bought me some new furniture for my studio and I wanted something to personalize it with and thought an altered letter would be great sitting on the shelf.

I used lots of Prima Pearls and Prima Flowers as well as some lace from Kaisercraft and a wire embellishment from Maya Road.  There is also a little birdhouse from Prima and some flower ribbon that I picked up from a scrapbook crop.  A lot of the flowers were white so I sprayed them with some Heidi Swapp Colorshine Mists in Blush and Peach.  There is also some cheesecloth tucked in between the flowers for some more texture.

I hope you are inspired to try an altered letter of your own.  Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day doing what you love.

A Valentine's Mixed Media Layout

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing a layout of my daughter and I when she was a year old. This was so freeing to create because usually I have design team assignments and this one was just for the sake of creating.

I used a stencil and some modelling paste to create the brick background and some Tim Holtz Stamps and also pulled out my Cuttlebug and used a Sizzix die to create the book page flowers.  The background is inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Scattered Straw, Crushed Olive and Worn Lipstick.  Yes it's a little embellishment heavy, but it was fun to create.  I used lots of flowers and some wood embellishments that I inked and stamped to give more interest.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Valentine's Day Card For Kreaxions

I hope you are having a good Sunday.  Today I have a card to share that I created with the amazing Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch #905 for Valentine's Day.

I punched two border strips from the punch without any inserts and overlapped them to give it a feminine touch.

Kreaxions 4 In 1 Punch Without Inserts
Kreaxions 4 In 1 Punch With Inserts A, B, and C

The top of the card I stamped the kraft card stock with some Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder and added the leftover hearts from the punch to add some more visual interest.  I them added a sticker for the title and some puffy heart embellishments.

I hope you like my card.  Thanks for visiting my blog and the amazing Kreaxions 4 in 1 punch #905 is available here in the Just Imagine Crafts Online Store.

Guest Designer At Boys Rule Kits

Hello scrappy friends.  I am honored to be asked to be a guest designer at Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits for January and February.  If you aren't familiar with these kits, they are exclusively put together to scrapbook masculine layouts.  This is my first of four layouts using the Boys Rule January/February 2014 kit and I really enjoyed creating with it.  It has some really cute stickers, overlays, arrows, chipboard and puffy hearts and arrows.  Here is the first layout I created of a family friend's adorable four year old son.

I really like color and this one has lots of bright colors.  The only thing I used from my stash was a white piece of card stock, and some Tim Holtz Distress Paints and a texture stamp for some more interest.

The photos are courtesy of Rockwood Photography and this layout was inspired by a sketch designed by Sue Sykes for the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Sketchy Challenge for January 2014.

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day doing what you love.

Gratitude Jar - Susan K. Weckesser

Hello everyone!  I hope you are staying warm.  Happy New Year.  Today I am sharing my Gratitude Jar that I created with Susan K. Weckesser's lovely collection of "Live In Color" patterned papers.

To make this jar, I gathered a canning jar that I had in my cupboard and added some burlap for texture.  I fussy cut the label, flowers and bird from Susan's "Live In Color Collection" and also cut a strip of the green paper and used a border punch on the top and bottom edge and adhered it near the bottom of the jar to look like grass.  Next I went around the jar adhering the flowers and embellishing the center of the flowers with some embellishments.  I then adhered some Canvas Corp. ribbon around the jar lid and some Karen Foster Design twine and a metal word around the neck of the jar.  Finally, I adhered a wood doily to the bottom of the jar with some adhesive squares.  I had some green paper left over so I cut tiny strips that I could use in the jar to write what I am grateful for everyday.  When the end of 2014 arrives, I will take out the written papers strips and look back on what I was grateful for.  Here are some closeups of my jar.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to use Susan K. Weckesser's  gorgeous Live In Color Collection of patterned papers to create your own gratitude jar.  Have a lovely day!

Stuck?! Sketches January 15 Sketch

Hello friends!  I hope your week is going well so far.  Today I am sharing a layout I created for the January 15 sketch over at Stuck?! Sketches.  This is a photo of my three kids.  I don't have them all together very often because my two older ones are married and live a few hours away so I was grateful to capture this photo of them last Christmas.  I did a simple layout for the sketch and used my Silhouette Cameo a lot for for the title, the borders and the shapes.  The papers are part of the Fancy Pants "Be Loved" Collection.

Here is the sketch I used designed by Stuck?! Sketches owner Laura Whitaker.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the entire design team reveal and play along here.  There is a fabulous prize from Creative Embellishments and also one from May Arts.  The contest closes January 29.

Hello friends! You should have arrived here from  Michelle Johns blog.  There are a lot of ladies on the hop so if you would like to go to the beginning of the hop go here.   This weekend at Practical Scrappers, we are having a blog hop and the challenge for the design team was to use up our stash.  Now that's not too difficult for me because I have enough to last me ten years. Hahahaha.  Ask my husband.  He will tell you that there are three rooms in our home that are full of scrappy goodness, but he still loves me.  Anyway, here is my layout that I created for the hop. I was going for a layered shabby chic look and used lots of flowers and embellishments from my stash, and the Authentique "Peaceful" Collection from two years ago that I thought was perfect for this photo.

Now, how to get in on that prize!  Kiwi Lane Designs will be giving away a border set and accessory set and for your chance to win, you can do any or all of the following for up to three entries!
1) Become a follower of Practical Scrappers and leave a comment.
