Stuck?! Sketches February 1, 2015 Sketch

Hello friends! If you are looking for the Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop please go here.

Today is the new sketch reveal at Stuck?! Sketches and Laura Whitaker always has a sweet sketch to inspire us.

I thought I would scrap my granddog Elly and since Valentine's Day is only two weeks away, I thought I would make a Valentine's themed layout.  Here is my layout that I created with the February 1, 2015 Sketch.

and here are some more closeups of my layout.

I used the the Bella Blvd. Scattered Sprinkles Collection for most of the papers, some Bella Blvd. stickers, washi tape, and a pink crochet heart. I also added some flair from A Flair For Buttons and some cute embellishments from Pink Fresh Studios. I saw these cute wood veneer dogs by Studio Calico and thought they would be perfect for this layout.  Instead of the circle on the sketch, I created a heart from twine. Here is the colour palette that inspired my layout.

Finally, here is the sketch. I think I stayed pretty true to the sketch except made a twine heart shape instead of a circle shape on the background.

Check out what the other design team members created with the sketch at Stuck? Sketches and link up your take on the sketch. There is lots of time to link up and as always, there are wonderful prizes to be won.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Summer Beach Bum Layout

Hello friends! I hope you are having an awesome day! Today I am sharing a summer layout at Creative Embellishments of my son and his friend when they were 7 years old and having some fun at the beach.

I found a cute digital cut file online that made me think of sunshine and beach umbrellas.  I wish I could remember where I found it so I could give credit where credit is due.  I cut the design out several times on my Silhouette Cameo. I then adhered them to the background paper and machine stitched around the designs.   I used the Creative Embellishments Circles Stamp, the chipboard Social Hash Tags, and the Sunny Days, Arrow and Peppermint wood shapes.  These are all available in the Creative Embellishments Online Store.

The wood shapes and hashtags were all painted with distress paints and acrylic paints before I glued them down.  I also added a journal card that I journaled on and then made it into a tag by punching a hole in the center and adding some twine.

Finally I added some stickers and a flair button.

I hope you enjoyed my layout.  Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting my blog.

Birthday Cake Card

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share a quick birthday card that I created for my daughter-in-law.

For this card I used a design that is at the Silhouette Online Store.  I cut it on my Silhouette Cameo on some Echo Park Paper's Summer Bliss Collection of patterned papers and then adhered some sequins, stamped the happy birthday sentiment on some white card stock and wrapped some twine.

I hope you enjoyed my card.  I think I will be making many more cards in the future to use up some of my scraps and use my Silhouette Cameo even more.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Angel Layout

Happy Saturday!  It's the first day of March and I don't know about you, but I couldn't be happier that it's that much closer to spring.  Where I live, it has been the longest winter that I can remember and it will be nice to welcome flowers and warmer days.

Today is the March 1 Sketch Reveal day at Stuck?! Sketches and here is another fabulous sketch from my talented friend Laura Whitaker.  I love her sketches.

For my layout I thought I would create something with more of a soft, spring feel to the page of this little cutie.  Aren't children so precious when they sleep?  My friend Stephanie from Rockwood Photography gave me this precious photo to scrapbook with and I was happy to oblige.

Friends Are The Family We Choose Card

Hello friends!  Happy Thursday!   Today I am up at Susan K. Weckesser and I wanted to share an extra special card I created with Susan K. Weckesser's amazing stamps and papers to give to a dear friend of mine.

I just LOVE The Happy Homestead Stamps.

I first stamped the house stamp with black archival ink onto white card stock and then "painted" it with some mists to coordinate with Susan's Live In Color Collection of patterned papers.

After it was colored and stamped, I popped it up on the card with some pop dots.  I then stamped the word "family" onto white card stock, cut the letters out separately and adhered it to the card.  I fussy cut the sun and adhered some yellow twine and placed a large sequin  in the center of the twine and adhered it to the card.

Right now I am loving the sequin trend so I wanted to give a little more texture and dimension to the house roof so I adhered some pink sequins to the roof.

Finally I fussy cut a cloud, flowers, grass and a bird out of the Live In Color Collection of patterned papers and adhered them to the card and used some tiny letter stickers to finish the title.

I am happy how this came together.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to create a card for a friend. Have a great day!

"Look" Layout

Happy Sunday!  Do you ever get so inspired by a sketch that you have to go straight to your studio and create a layout?  That was me last night.  Sue Sykes shared her sketch for the February Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge

and I absolutely loved it and knew that I wanted to create something with my Cameo and some papers from the Be Loved Collection from Fancy Pants.  I flipped the sketch so I could use a landscape type photo instead of a portrait photo.

I love my son's blue eyes and this is a snapshot of when he was eleven years old.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Gratitude Jar - Susan K. Weckesser

Hello everyone!  I hope you are staying warm.  Happy New Year.  Today I am sharing my Gratitude Jar that I created with Susan K. Weckesser's lovely collection of "Live In Color" patterned papers.

To make this jar, I gathered a canning jar that I had in my cupboard and added some burlap for texture.  I fussy cut the label, flowers and bird from Susan's "Live In Color Collection" and also cut a strip of the green paper and used a border punch on the top and bottom edge and adhered it near the bottom of the jar to look like grass.  Next I went around the jar adhering the flowers and embellishing the center of the flowers with some embellishments.  I then adhered some Canvas Corp. ribbon around the jar lid and some Karen Foster Design twine and a metal word around the neck of the jar.  Finally, I adhered a wood doily to the bottom of the jar with some adhesive squares.  I had some green paper left over so I cut tiny strips that I could use in the jar to write what I am grateful for everyday.  When the end of 2014 arrives, I will take out the written papers strips and look back on what I was grateful for.  Here are some closeups of my jar.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to use Susan K. Weckesser's  gorgeous Live In Color Collection of patterned papers to create your own gratitude jar.  Have a lovely day!

Stuck?! Sketches January 15 Sketch

Hello friends!  I hope your week is going well so far.  Today I am sharing a layout I created for the January 15 sketch over at Stuck?! Sketches.  This is a photo of my three kids.  I don't have them all together very often because my two older ones are married and live a few hours away so I was grateful to capture this photo of them last Christmas.  I did a simple layout for the sketch and used my Silhouette Cameo a lot for for the title, the borders and the shapes.  The papers are part of the Fancy Pants "Be Loved" Collection.

Here is the sketch I used designed by Stuck?! Sketches owner Laura Whitaker.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the entire design team reveal and play along here.  There is a fabulous prize from Creative Embellishments and also one from May Arts.  The contest closes January 29.

Practical Scrappers Thanksgiving Card

Hello!  Can you believe it's the month of November?  Today at Practical Scrappers there is a reveal of the November 1 Card Sketch, created by design team member Patty Selah.
November 1 Card Sketch
The design team was asked to create a card with a Thanksgiving theme so I happily took out some seasonal papers from the We R Memories "Country Livin" Collection and created this simple card.

I cut some ribbon that was maple leaves and applied some Beacon 3-In-1 Glue and adhered some sequins to the maple leaves.  I then found a wood button and tied a bow with twine and misted a wood leaf embellishment with October Afternoon Sprinklers (Rotary Phone) to make it a green shade.  Next, I added my title in some woodgrain mini letter stickers by October Afternoon.  Voila!  A simple Thanksgiving card!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out what some of the other design team members at Practical Scrappers created with the card sketch here.

Scrap Our Stash Challenge #8 - Tic Tac Toe

Hello scrappy friends!  Today is my reveal over at Scrap Our Stash for Challenge #8 October 1.  I had such a great time creating with this challenge.  The challenge is to use the chart below and play a little Tic Tac Toe.

I wanted to create a shabby chic feel for my layout of things I am thankful for. I chose the bottom row which is to use 5+ brads, wood veneers and twine on my layout. I used 5 pearl brads for the center of my flowers as well as some wood veneers that I altered with some gesso, acrylic paint and mists.  For the twine, I wrapped the twine around the wood veneer flower.  Here is the layout I created for the challenge.
T Is For Thankful

Why don't you join the challenge? For this challenge, you will need to pick 3 stash items in a row and add to your layout. These items MUST be premade/packaged from your stash. Remember... the idea is to use up your stash! :)
