June 2015 Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop

Hello friends! I am so happy you are here participating in the June Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop where we are using our stash.  You should have arrived here from Wendy 's blog but if not, here is a list of names in the correct order participating in the blog hop:

Jennifer Stella Haggerty http://livethemoment-jen.blogspot.com/
Wendy Bergeron Coffman http://stampingrules.com
Lee-Anne Thornton http://lee-annelovethejourney.blogspot.com   You are here

Updated Saturday, June 27, 2015 I have had to remove my layout from my blog as it has been picked up for publication! Scrap n Art Magazine will be publishing this in the July issue which will be available July 1.

Today I am sharing somewhat of a mixed media layout.  My background was created on some white card stock with the help of Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Abandoned Coral, Cracked Pistachio and Squeezed Lemonade then I added some splatters of Heidi Swapp Colorshine Mists in Black Velvet and Teal.

I added several embellishments from my stash such as stickers, buttons, wood veneer birdies, flair, brads, bakers twine and a crochet flower.  The patterned paper, stickers and alpha stickers are from Echo Park's Simple Life Collection.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  You are at the end of the hop.  I hope you are inspired by all the projects.  Thanks for hopping!

Be Bright Shadowbox

Hello friends!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far.  Today I wanted to share another Christmas project that I created with an  8X8 shadowbox frame, some vinyl, my Silhouette Cameo, a piece of 8x8 patterned paper and some mini ornaments.  The phrase was designed by Kerri Bradford.

I really enjoyed making this and it was my first time cutting vinyl on my Cameo.  I definitely will be making more of these for gifts.  My home resembles a timber frame style home and is quite rustic so I thought the plaid paper by October Afternoon's  "Holiday Style" Collection was perfect for this one.  I bought the 8X8 shadowbox frame at Michael's and also the ornaments being mindful not to buy too large of ornaments because the shadowbox was not very deep.  The "Be Bright" phrase was sized 6 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches long.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my project.  Have a great day!

Supplies

1 Black 8X8 Shadowbox Frame  - (Michael's Arts & Crafts)
1 8X8 piece of patterned paper - Holiday Style Collection (October Afternoon)
Diecut Phrase - Kerri Bradford Studio
Mini Ornaments - (Michael's Arts & Crafts)
Vinyl - (Silhouette America)
Electronic Die Cutting Machine - (Silhouette Cameo)

Cute Dude Layout

Happy Wednesday! Today is the reveal of the October 15 sketch at Stuck?! Sketches. I love scrapping this cutie and I thought the sketch was great with all of the hexagons so I put my Silhouette Cameo to work and came up with this layout using the new Creative Agenda Collection by Echo Park.

Here is the sketch that inspired my layout:

Come play along and upload your creation over at Stuck?! Sketches for the October 15 sketch.  There are some amazing prizes to be won.  Thanks for stopping by and happy creating!

Practical Scrappers Thanksgiving Card

Hello!  Can you believe it's the month of November?  Today at Practical Scrappers there is a reveal of the November 1 Card Sketch, created by design team member Patty Selah.
November 1 Card Sketch
The design team was asked to create a card with a Thanksgiving theme so I happily took out some seasonal papers from the We R Memories "Country Livin" Collection and created this simple card.

I cut some ribbon that was maple leaves and applied some Beacon 3-In-1 Glue and adhered some sequins to the maple leaves.  I then found a wood button and tied a bow with twine and misted a wood leaf embellishment with October Afternoon Sprinklers (Rotary Phone) to make it a green shade.  Next, I added my title in some woodgrain mini letter stickers by October Afternoon.  Voila!  A simple Thanksgiving card!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out what some of the other design team members at Practical Scrappers created with the card sketch here.

Practical Scrappers Ten Things Stickers

Happy Tuesday!  Today I wanted to share a different way to use stickers on a layout.  I embellished my sticker by using pearls on my "tree" sticker to make it look like apples and also a sticker candle instead of an "i" in the title word "girl".

Chipboard Letters - American Crafts
Patterned Papers - October Afternoon (Cakewalk Collection)Pearls - Kaisercraft

My Happier At Home Art Journal For September, 2013

Hi friends!  Today was art journal day for September and I created this in my Happier At Home book that is probably more of an altered book project than an art journal.

These colours make me happy.  I used October Afternoon Sprinklers (Carbon Copy, Rotary Phone, and Swivel Chair) for my sprays.  Don't you just love those names?  Sort of vintage don't you think?  I also used some Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, and Walnut Stain to tint my ribbon and also some Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Rusty Hinge, Brushed Corduroy, Walnut Stain and Stormy Sky to fill in colour on the background after I sprayed.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by so I could share my art journal project with you.  Have a lovely day!

Scrap Our Stash - August Sketch

Hello friends!  Today is my day to reveal my layout for Scrap Our Stash that I created from the fabulous sketch by our own talented Brenda Ragsdale!  I just love her sketches and find them easy and fun to work with.

August 15 Sketch - Scrap Our Stash
The sketch also had a little challenge to create a layout with a twist to include a game piece from our stash so I used a bingo card embellishment and cut a spinner with my Cameo.  I recently purchased the new collection "Well Played" by Carta Bella and it worked perfect for this layout of my family playing Scattergories.  I also love flair buttons and have a little addiction with them as well as wood veneer shapes.  Here are some photos:

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I hope you are inspired to create your very own layout with the sketch and a game piece and uplink it to Scrap Our Stash by August 29 to be eligible for a prize.

Have a creative day!

Canadian Scrapbooker August Sketchy Challenge

Hello and happy Monday!

I hope all of my scrappy friends had a chance to create this past weekend.  I know a lot of scrapbookers take a break in the summer but autumn is just around the corner and the kids are going back to school so I know a lot of you out there will be taking out those papers and embellishments once again.

I love sketches and love taking part in sketchy challenges when my design team assignments are completed.  I try to enter the sketchy challenge at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine as often as I can.  Here is one I created with the awesome sketch by Sue Sykes for the August 2013 Sketchy Challenge.

This photo has a special place in my heart because it was a "lightbulb" moment when I captured this photo and it won second place in a local newspaper's weekly photo contest.

Here are some more detailed photos.  I am loving the washi tape, flair buttons and wood veneer embellishment craze at the moment.  The papers and stickers are from October Afternoon's Travel Girl Collection.

Here is Sue Sykes's sketch that inspired me:

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #348

Hello scrappy friends!  I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend.

Today I am sharing my layout that I created for Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #348.  I really loved this sketch and love the hexagon trend.

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #348

It got my creative juices flowing and right now I'm on a nautical kick and thought that I would use some papers from a 2010 collection of October Afternoon's Seaside Collection.  This collection makes me think of my summer vacation last year on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.  Such a pretty place.  We spent some time in Comox to visit family and took a walk down to the Comox Marina.

All the hexagons were cut on the Silhouette Cameo and I also did some machine stitching.  Don't forget to check out all the other design team members take on the sketch here.

Thanks for popping in today and I hope you have some time to get scrappy this week.

June Sketchy Challenge At Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine

Hi friends!  I hope you are having a nice day.  It's gorgeous and sunny here today and it makes me think of summer vacation and the beach.

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for the June Sketchy Challenge over at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  The sketch is courtesy of Sue Sykes.

I have so many papers in my stash and it was time to pull out October Afternoon's Seaside Collection and use it.  I love the colours and stickers to this collection.

here are a few closeups:

I fussy cut the scalloped banner and the little boy and girl.

I made a banner with buttons and layered some stickers and a flair button from The Paper Bakery.

I hope you enjoyed my layout and now is the time to challenge yourself and participate in the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge.  The rules have changed a little and now a layout can be created without any Canadian product as well as all international scrapbookers can now take part in the Sketchy Challenge.  Simply go to www.canadianscrapbooker.com/sketchy and upload your layout in the June 2013 Sketchy Challenge gallery. So what are you waiting for?

Have a great day!

Sharing A Layout With Graffiti Stencil Art

Hello scrappy friends!  Today is Friday and I wanted to share a layout I created with some new stencils from Graffiti Stencil Art.  I was very honored to be asked to design with these stencils.  There are some really cool designs to play with for your layouts, cards, mixed media projects and art journals.

I used the Decorative Circle Background Stencil and created a layout of my hubby on his birthday.  To give the layout more texture and dimension, I applied some Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste and sprayed some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist in Tinsel into the modeling paste and gave it a good stir.  This gave it more color and then I went over the raised design with some Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Picket Fence and also around the outside edges.  The papers and stickers are from the Note To Self Collection and the Family Man Mini Collection by Echo Park.

Buttons - October Afternoon
Distress Stain - Tim Holtz (Picket Fence)
Flair Button - Evalicious
Pen - Marvy Uchida (Black)
Mists - Heidi Swapp Color Shine (Tinsel, Midnight Black)
Modeling Paste - Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste
Patterned Paper - Echo Park Note To Self Collection
Stencil - Graffiti Stencil Art (Decorative Circle Background)
Stickers - Echo Park Family Man Mini Collection
Washi Tape - Recollections

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the Graffiti Stencil Art website here.

Have a great Friday!

Practical Scrappers Ten Things Tuesday - Folded Paper

Happy Tuesday!

Today I am sharing a layout I created of my silly daughter.  She is always making me laugh.  This is for  design team work for Practical Scrappers Ten Things Tuesday and we are all about folded paper and ten ways to use folded paper on your creations.

I chose to create some rosettes with my Silhouette Cameo.

I am loving everything circles these days and I love these papers from Echo Park's Sweet Girl Collection.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to create some rosettes on your next project.  Be sure and see what the other designers on the Ten Things Tuesday Team came up with for folded paper here.

Have a great day!
