Some Cards...

Hello friends! Hope you are all well. Thanks for stopping by! Today I wanted to share some cards. Yes cards. I don't create cards very often because frankly I struggle with such a small amount of space to create and no photo.

I had some leftover scraps of papers and stickers from the My Creative Scrapbook October Creative Kit so I put them to good use. So far I was able to create six layouts and two cards with the kit and still have scraps left. Kits are such a good value!

For this card, I began with a square paper punch and punched out several scraps of patterned paper and cut them in half diagonally and paper pieced a "quilt" design.

For this card I knew I wanted to use the 3X4 card of the cute little red truck, some leftover ribbon from the kit and the "Fall Blessings" chipboard sticker.

Making these cards were fun! Sometimes a person just has to jump in and create out of their comfort zone. Many times it turns out better than expected.

Thanks for visiting! Have a lovely day!

November Creative Kit Layouts For My Creative Scrapbook

Hi there friends! Glad you stopped by.  I would like to share my layouts that I created for My Creative Scrapbook with the November Creative Kit.

I loved this kit and enjoyed working with this kit. The papers are so pretty and this month is the first month that My Creative Scrapbook have included exclusive digital cut files that can be cut out with electronic diecutting machines such as the Silhouette Cameo, the Brother Scan N Cut, and the Cricut Explore.  I cut out the leaves and title with my Silhouette Cameo.  Here is a closer look at the November Creative Kit. The colors are so pretty!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great week.  Be sure and check out all the kits for November at My Creative Scrapbook

Some Cards To Share

Hello friends! Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian peeps.  Yesterday my family celebrated with a turkey dinner and all the fixings.  It was a nice day and I have so much to be thankful for.

Today I wanted to share some cards that I created with the October Creative Kit at My Creative Scrapbook.  The products used on these cards consist of the cute products from the Doodlebug Design new Flea Market Collection.

There are so many goodies in this kit that I was able to make four layouts and 4 cards with product to spare.

Be sure and check out what the design team created with all four kits this month at My Creative Scrapbook and be sure to order your kits.  Have a creative day!

So Very Grateful

Hello friends! Today I am sharing a selfie layout of being thankful and grateful.  On a more personal note, I am celebrating my birthday today and actually I am not sad but happy and reflective.  I don't intend for this to seem that I am self absorbed, it just makes me reflect on how beautiful life is and after being on this earth for a number of  years it makes me realize that I have come through a lot of tragedies and challenges in my life and I can honestly say that I am happier in my life more now than ever. Sure, I physically feel my age at times, but mentally I feel 25.  I just wish I had the wisdom when I was 25. Ha!

It really is all about attitude and making the most of everyday and counting my blessings.  My life isn't perfect, but it's still wonderful.  I also am grateful for scrapbooking.  It really is an amazing hobby that lets me reflect on the memories, the beauty and the loved ones in my life.  If truth be known, I have always loved anything crafty, but scrapbooking by far brings me the most contentment.  I have met so many beautiful people, whom I call my friends, my support network and the people that get me.  Thank you for letting me share my passion with you and thank you for taking the time to read and visit my blog. I hope, if anything, you can take that we all need to do something we love, whether it's art, music, photography, cooking, sports or anything.  We need to do more of what we love and make the time for it.  Life happens and it's easy to get sucked into the monotony of everyday life so now,  more than ever, we need to slow down and take time for ourselves.

Well enough about that….  So getting back to business, I wanted to share a layout that I created for A Flair For Buttons.

I have been blessed to be on this amazing team and Shelley Haganman is so sweet and positive and she makes amazing flair buttons.  It's no surprise that I can't help but use her flair on almost every layout I create.  It always inspires me.  For this particular layout, I used the Fox And Owl Flair Set for the "thankful" flair button and the striped flair button as well as the Gobble Gobble Flair Set for the green patterned flair button.

The patterned papers are all from the Simple Stories Sweater Weather Collection as well as the enamel dots, die cuts and chipboard embellishments.  I love anything that Simple Stories comes out with.

For the leaves, I actually handcut them using one of the leaves as a template and arranged them in a layered fashion using pop dots underneath some of the leaves to give some shadow and dimension.

I had some burlap in my stash so I cut it and matted my photos and cut circles and placed the circles on the leaves and underneath the flair button to give it more texture.

Placing enamel dots around the layout gives it more of a Fall flair to gives the appearance that the leaves are falling down the page.  Most of my layouts have either machine stitching or some hand stitching because I love the homespun look and am an old fashioned girl at heart.  It probably has something to do with my cross-stitching days as well.

Here are the flair button sets that I created my layout with:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a good day and are able to take time to do something you love.

It's The November 2015 Kits Reveal Day At My Creative Scrapbook!

Hello friends! Happy Thursday! Today is the 5th of the month, so that means that it is the reveal day at My Creative Scrapbook.  It's always exciting to see all the designers show their beautiful projects with the upcoming kits.  Here are the beautiful kits for November 2015:

November 2015 Main Kit
November 2015 Creative Kit

November 2015 LE Kit
November 2015 Album Kit
I am honored once again to be asked to guest design for November and I loved working with the November 2015 Main Kit.  I thought I would share one of my layouts today and I will share the other three layouts throughout November.  This is my first layout:

I decided to make a layout of my daughter.  The kit is based on a Fall/Thanksgiving theme, but I wanted to show you how the kit can also be used to create everyday layouts.  My daughter's sweater was a dark maroon color and I thought it would work perfectly with the November main kit.

I used the Lindy's Stamp Gang spray from the main kit and sprayed the wood veneer word "celebrate" and used it as part of my title.  I used my one inch square paper punch and punched out several squares of different patterned papers.  If they are cut in half diagonally, they create a triangle.  I arranged the paper triangles in a pattern as shown above and machine stitched them down to the background paper in a dark green thread.  I also used the spray to color the creme ribbon.  The chipboard frames are so fun to work with in this kit.  I try to use them not only as frames for the photos, but also with die cuts.

Thank you so much for letting me share this kit with you.  Be sure and come back several times this month for more layouts that I have created from this kit as well as some tips on how I created the layouts.

Happy Fall Y'all Layout

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share my last design team layout for The Cut Shoppe.  It has been a fantastic four months creating on the team and Ashley Horton and the entire team are so great to work with.  For my layout, created a Fall layout of my family this past Thanksgiving.  In Canada, Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October.

Here are some more closeups of my layout.

I wanted to create a plain and simple layout using the cute Happy Fall Y'all Cut File. I love the way it gives a warm, casual feel to my page.  The sketch was inspired by a sketch at Creative Scrappers and I used the Sweater Weather Collection of papers and embellishments by Simple Stories.

This and many more amazing cut files and printables are available in the store now!  Thanks for stopping by and I know that I will continue to use many cut files from The Cut Shoppe in future! Have a great day!

Give Thanks Layout

Hello friends!  Happy Thursday!  Today I wanted to share a layout that I created just for the fun of it.  I don't think I have ever created a photoless layout. In the hustle and bustle of getting prepared for our Canadian Thanksgiving Day, which is this weekend,  I am very excited that my older children will be coming to celebrate it with me.  I wanted to scrapbook something from my heart and all the things that I am thankful for.

This layout was pure fun to create!  I used the new Hello Autumn Collection from Bella Blvd. for all the patterned papers, the stickers, chipboard stickers and ephemera and a piece of white card stock.  I cut out a template with my Silhouette Cameo from some free cut files that I found at Chickaniddy Crafts and then used several pieces of patterned paper to make the design.  I wanted my journaling to be personal and from the heart so I wrote it in my own handwriting.

I hope you enjoyed my layout! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Practical Scrappers November Sketch

Hello friends!  Today at Practical Scrappers the team is sharing some layouts they created with the lovely November sketch from Liz Chidester.

Thanksgiving 2013

Cardstock - Recollections
Diecut Banners - Silhouette America
Diecut Pumpkin Shapes - Silhouette America
Kraft Label - Maya Road
Mini Letter Stickers - Echo Park
Mists - Heidi Swapp
Patterned Papers - Echo Park, SEI
Pen - Marvy Uchida

For the layout I created some word banners with my Silhouette Cameo pertaining to Thanksgiving and also cut some pumpkin die cut shapes.  I folded the left and right strip of denim looking patterned paper back and forth to make an accordion shape to give the layout more texture and dimension and then adhered them to the kraft card stock.

After I adhered the banner strips the way I wanted them, I added some drops of Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists in Peach, Coral and Navy and unscrewed the cap and simply used the dropper to strategically place some drips on the banner to give it more color.  I also cut some chevron paper and added them beside the word strips to give more direction to the words.

Thanks for stopping by and spending your day with me.  Have a creative day!

Thanksgiving Plastic Canvas Display

Hello scrappy friends!  Today is my individual feature over at Practical Scrappers and I wanted to share something a little different than what I usually blog about and that is plastic canvas.  Before I discovered the world of papercrafts, I created many cross stitching projects and plastic canvas.  It was a great way to keep my hands busy while watching television.

For this Thanksgiving display, I used several pieces of plastic canvas, a wool needle, several colors of acrylic yarn some google eyes, embroidery floss for the mouths and a plastic canvas pattern that I bought from a craft store.  The above display took me quite a while to create, but I was happy with the result and it will be displayed in my home at Thanksgiving every year.

Do you have other creative hobbies that you enjoy?  I would love to hear about them.  Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a creative day!

Practical Scrappers Thanksgiving Card

Hello!  Can you believe it's the month of November?  Today at Practical Scrappers there is a reveal of the November 1 Card Sketch, created by design team member Patty Selah.
November 1 Card Sketch
The design team was asked to create a card with a Thanksgiving theme so I happily took out some seasonal papers from the We R Memories "Country Livin" Collection and created this simple card.

I cut some ribbon that was maple leaves and applied some Beacon 3-In-1 Glue and adhered some sequins to the maple leaves.  I then found a wood button and tied a bow with twine and misted a wood leaf embellishment with October Afternoon Sprinklers (Rotary Phone) to make it a green shade.  Next, I added my title in some woodgrain mini letter stickers by October Afternoon.  Voila!  A simple Thanksgiving card!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out what some of the other design team members at Practical Scrappers created with the card sketch here.
