My Blog Has A New Look!

Hello friends!

So excited to share my new makeover for my blog.    I love everything beachy, nautical and vintage and thought this design was very calming.  The digital kit is from Laurie Ann.  I love it and it makes me smile.

There are a few new items that I have added to my blog.  My scrapbooking resume',  some social media buttons and a blog counter.

Thanks so much Kristine Davidson for putting it all together!  I love it!

Thanks for stopping by to check it out.  Have a wonderful evening everyone!

Live In Colour - A Mixed Media Layout

Hello friends!

Today I am so honoured to be guest designing for Susan Weckesser and excited to share my layout.

I love Susan's bright colours and whimsical papers.  For this layout I used some Liquitex Modeling Paste and a stencil and added some designs to the background as well as some ink splatters with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine Mists in Primrose, and Mint Green.

I then misted a piece of corrugated cardboard.

I fussy cut the sun, a quote card and the bird and house from Susan's patterned papers.  For the sun I adhered some yellow twine and used the stencil to add more texture to the roof of the house.

I stamped with Susan's Unity Heart Stamp with a pink Pitt Big Brush Pen and cut out the heart and layered it underneath my diecut and misted title that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Finally, I journaled and embellished with a cute camera paper clip from Prima and some flair buttons from The Paper Bakery.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Scrap Our Stash July 15 Challenge

Hello scrappy friends!  Today is my first layout posted for Scrap Our Stash and I am so excited to be part of this friendly bunch of ladies.

The challenge is to create a layout from the sketch below and use some bling.  My layout is based on this sketch

And here is my layout:

Bling - Prima
Butterfly - Maya Road
Cardstock - American Crafts
Diecut title and flowers - Silhouette Cameo
Doily - Little Yellow Bicycle
Mists - Heidi Swapp Color Shine (Mustard, Mint Green and Tinsel)
Paper Clip - Prima
Patterned Paper - Simple Stories
Pen - Marvy Uchida
I used a technique I learned from Corrie Jones, a Garden Girl at Two Peas In A Bucket,  to "paint" the circle with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists.  I then machine stitched around the circle, diecut some flowers and title with my Silhouette Cameo, misted them with mists and added some photos, a doily, a bingo card, wooden butterfly, a camera paper clip and finally some mist droplets and bling and pearls.  Here are some more detailed photos:

Be sure and play along at Scrap Our Stash and upload your layout to the challenge by July 29 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

I hope you have some creative time to play.  Have a wonderful day!

Practical Scrappers - Ten Things Letter Stickers

Hello scrappy friends!

Today is all about letter stickers.  Do you have tons of letter stickers in your stash that you don't know what to do with?  I have the perfect solution.  Use your Thickers or alphabet stickers to create a background for your layout.

My layout is of my grandpuppy Elly who was very sick recently.  She is sleeping in this photo so I thought I would gather up all the letters "z"s" that I had and knew that I would never use them all and put them to good use.

Elly

I took a 12 X 12 piece of white cardstock and adhered numerous letters on it.  I then used a small foam brush and applied gesso to all the letters and let it dry.  This gives the letters some toothiness so that inks and mist will adhere better and mute the colors as I had all different colours of letters.  I then misted and inked with distress ink and then I embellished with corrugated paper that was misted and inked and then added a variety of embellishments.  Here are some closeups:

This layout was a lot of fun to create and I was happy with the result.

Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!

Art Journal For July

Hello scrappy friends!  I am back from vacation and it's time to get busy with creating again.  I have missed creating as the past month my time has been taken up helping out, where I can, with all the devastating flooding that hit my area and then last week I was on vacation.

Today I wanted to share with you my art journal page for July.  This is a class I have been taking this year taught by the talented Lynn Thune.  I love her shabby chic style so much.

I created inside the actual book "Happier At Home" after reading the chapter.  The distress inks are Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain by Tim Holtz.

It's always fun to create in my "Happier At Home" art journal.  Now to get back in the groove of scrapbooking as I have a ton of design team assignments to get busy with but looking forward to it.

Have a creative day and happy Friday!

Practical Scrappers Ten Things Team - Mists

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you have some time to be creative this week.  Today the Practical Scrappers Ten Things Team are sharing different ideas to use mists and sprays on your projects.  I have every colour of the Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists and love their gorgeous colours and shimmer.

Cardstock - DCWV
Corrugated Paper - Fancy Pants
Mists - Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Mists (Mustard, Teal)
Patterned Paper - Fancy Pants
Stencil - Graffiti Stencil Art
Title - Silhouette Cameo

For my layout, I created the title by covering the bottom half of the die cut title with a piece of paper and misting with the Mustard Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist, letting it dry,  remove, and then covering the top half with a piece of paper and misting it with the Teal Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist, letting it dry and remove.

I used the Fancy Pants Park Bench Collecton for the papers and stickers, my Silhouette Cameo to die cut the title and a star stencil from Graffiti Stencil Art.

Thanks so much for visiting and check out what the ladies at Practical Scrappers came up to give you many more ideas to use your mists.

Now it's your turn to give it a try!  Have a great day!
