Meow

Hello friends! I hope you are having a good weekend so far. Today I thought I would share a layout of my cat Sheldon that I created for my design team project that is on the blog today at A Flair For Buttons.

For my layout, I used a 6 X 6 paper pad from Doodlebug Designs and a heart paper punch and punched out several hearts in five colors. With my watercolors, I painted five colors coordinating with the paper hearts on white cardstock. Once the background paint dried, I placed the paper hearts onto the background paper in columns and machine the paper hearts down with my Stitch Happy Sewing Machine and some aqua twine from We R Memory Keepers. I love my new little sewing machine. As you may notice, I stacked two punched heart shapes on the second last row from the bottom to give the layout a little more interest and dimension.

Embellishing was kept to a minimum as I wanted the background and photo to be the focal points of my layout. I used some ephemera, wood shapes and a flair button from the Got Cat Flair set at A Flair For Buttons.

I finished the layout with some enamel dots and splattered some white paint onto the layout.

I hope you enjoyed my layout. Be sure and check out the A Flair For Buttons shop for hundreds more flair buttons. Let me warn you, they are very addictive.

Have a good day!

Love, Love, Love, All You Need Is Love

Hello friends! Today I am on the Just Nick Digital Cut Files blog sharing a love themed layout of my oldest son and daughter in law on their trip to Europe.  These lovebirds have done a lot of travelling in their 7 years of marriage.
For the background, I began with a 12X12 piece of white card stock and used the Mini Numbers Collage  6X6 Stencil by The Crafter's Workshop and added some modelling paste and let dry.  Then I used the Cubist 6X6 Stencil, also from The Crafter's Workshop and some Worn Lipstick Ranger Distress Ink.
I love working with vellum and I had some Doodlebug Designs embossed red heart vellum in my stash that I thought would work perfectly for this layout  and of course some Just Nick Digital Cut Files.  I cut out the HeartsInfinity Hearts Frames and Lots of Love cut files on my Silhouette Cameo.  The vellum cuts like butter on blade depth 3 on the Silhouette Cameo.
To adhere the vellum, I machine stitched the cut designs in place so there was no adhesive showing through onto the right side.  I added some sequins, some red twine bows and a flair button from A Flair For Buttons to complete the embellishing.
I hope you are inspired to use vellum on your projects.  Check out all the designs, including the designs I used on this layout in the Just Nick shop here.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy creating!

Stitch It Class Layout

Hello friends! I haven't blogged much this week but have a new layout to share. When time permits, I like to take classes and improve my craft.  My friend Nicole Nowosad has her very first class at Big Picture Classes called "Stitch It" so I thought I would take her class.

I was an avid cross stitcher before I began scrapbooking so I have hundreds of colors of embroidery floss in my stash and I love hand stitching and machine stitching on my projects.  I haven't tried the string art technique so I thought I would try it.  I really find hand stitching relaxing and it was fun to sew the title.

I watercolored my letters of my title with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and some water and cut my leaf die cuts on my Silhouette Cameo.  The cut file for the leaves is one of the cut files in the new Sweater Weather set that is available to purchase and download at Just Nick Digital Cut Files.  Here are a few detailed photos of my project.

Be sure and check out her class. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #268

Hello everyone!  Today I wanted to share a layout I created for a challenge at Creative Scrappers.

I love Creative Scrappers sketches and I really love Sketch #268 and had to play along.  Circles are one of my favorite things to create with on a layout.  For this layout I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out 9 circles in the white card stock and also cut out another sheet of card stock of the flower circles.  I used the Doodlebug Designs Springtime Collection of patterned papers and stickers and made each circle its own little "layout".

Here is the sketch #268 created by Jenny Evans

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have time to be creative.

Live In Colour - A Mixed Media Layout

Hello friends!

Today I am so honoured to be guest designing for Susan Weckesser and excited to share my layout.

I love Susan's bright colours and whimsical papers.  For this layout I used some Liquitex Modeling Paste and a stencil and added some designs to the background as well as some ink splatters with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine Mists in Primrose, and Mint Green.

I then misted a piece of corrugated cardboard.

I fussy cut the sun, a quote card and the bird and house from Susan's patterned papers.  For the sun I adhered some yellow twine and used the stencil to add more texture to the roof of the house.

I stamped with Susan's Unity Heart Stamp with a pink Pitt Big Brush Pen and cut out the heart and layered it underneath my diecut and misted title that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Finally, I journaled and embellished with a cute camera paper clip from Prima and some flair buttons from The Paper Bakery.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #342

Hello scrappy friends! I hope you all had a great weekend full of scrapbooking of course.  Today there is a new sketch revealed at Scrapbook Challenges and I always enjoy creating from these sketches and Chanell Rigterink always does a fabulous job with making them look so nice.

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #342

I wanted to do a playful layout of my daughter and her silly faces.  She cracks me up all the time!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the pie charts, the title and the vellum clouds and then used my sewing machine and stitched the title and clouds to keep them in place.  The patterned papers are from the Echo Park Sweet Girl Collection, the flair button is from The Paper Bakery and the washi tape is from Doodlebug Designs .

I hope you enjoyed my take on the sketch and would love to see what you do with the sketch.  Come play along with us at Scrapbook Challenges and upload your creation to our gallery.

Have a great day!
