Christmas Layout

Hello friends! Today I thought I would share my first layout that I created with the December Main Kit at My Creative Scrapbook.  I loved this kit and I have plenty of product left over for a few more layouts and cards, but ran out of time.  I love all the red and plaids in this kit.

The kit comes with gorgeous red Prima flowers.  I used two on this page.  I also love the wood stars. It gives the layout more texture and interest.

Here is the beautiful December Main Kit

The kits would make a perfect gift for yourself or a friend.

Come back again to see more layouts from this gorgeous kit.  Thanks for stopping by!

Us Together Layout

Hello friends! Happy Tuesday! Today I am moving right along and sharing another layout that I created with the January Main Kit at My Creative Scrapbook.  My family loves to go to the mountains and spend time together.

For this layout I used the stencil and mist that was included in the kit and created a design that reminded me of frost to make the layout look cold and frosty.  The papers, button and ephemera are all from the Happy Place Collection by Fancy Pants Designs.  I love the bright, fresh colors in this kit.

Be sure and check out all the January Kits at My Creative Scrapbook here.  Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Embellishments Guest Designing At Scrap Around The World

Hello friends! Today I am excited to share that the Creative Embellishments design team has been asked to guest design over at Scrap Around The World. I have always loved Scrap Around The World's mood boards and love all the beautiful eye candy I see on this website.  Below is the mood board the Creative Embellishments team had to work with:

I immediately was inspired by the girl's hair and it made me think of my daughter on her wedding day and her beautiful hair.  She looked like a princess and I wanted to create a shabby chic layout with lots of flowers and lace.

I began the layout by using two of the same pieces of patterned paper from the Bo Bunny Enchanted Collection and punched around the entire outside edge of one of the papers with a heart border punch.  I then cut a large square of the same paper and then distressed it and inked it with some distress paint.  I adhered it to the bottom sheet matching it up as close as possible.  I took some purple acrylic paint and a clear stamp and stamped randomly around the bottom paper.  Next, I chose the chipboard Doily Frame from Creative Embellishments and painted it with a coat of gesso and then dabbed on three different colours of acrylic paint.  For the Creative Embellishments chipboard Trellis, I also painted it with a coat of gesso and then painted it with green paint and then added some gesso here and there to give it a shabbier, vintage look.  I then went crazy with lots of flowers, lace, pearls and jewels.  Finally I took a sponge brush and dry brushed some gesso over the flowers and papers to give it more of a shabby chic look.  Finally I separated some strands of cheesecloth and wrapped it around some of the flowers to give it more texture.  Here are some closeups.

There are some AMAZING prizes to be won so be sure and link up at Scrap Around The World here.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Flowers Make Me Smile Layout

Hello friends! I hope you are having a lovely day so far.  Today I wanted to share a layout I created for Creative Embellishments.

Lately, I have been creating more vintage/shabby chic layouts.  I love all styles of scrapbooking and it's fun to mix it up a little.  I think because I live in a place with snow and cold temperatures in the winter makes me long for the flowers to grow again.

This layout has lots of chipboard, flowers and bright colors. I love gardening and grow Pansies in several colors every summer on my deck.  To begin my layout I added some modelling paste and a stencil to the paper background (from the Bo Bunny Enchanted Collection) and added some paint splatters and sequins.

For the Pansies Chipboard, I brushed it with some gesso then believe it or not, used my Faber Castell Big Brush Pens and colored the petals from the outside edge inwards.  After the chipboard was dry, I added some Liquid Glass to give the Pansies Chipboard some dimension and shine.

For the Hot Hexagon Panel chipboard, I broke it into smaller pieces and used two pieces on the top left and bottom right side of the layout. I also brushed the it with gesso and dabbed it with some blue acrylic paint, let it dry and then brushed it with some Liquid Glass as well.

Lace always looks pretty so I adhered some lace to the left edge of the layout.  The chipboard Social Media Hash Tag Words "#pretty and #smile" were also created with gesso, dabs of acrylic paint and Liquid Glass.   The flowers were all brushed with some gesso to tone down the colors.

My desk gets very inky and messy after a mixed media project, but to me it is so freeing and fun to make layouts such as this one.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Take care and don't forget to check out the Creative Embellishments Store for these chipboard products and many more wood veneers, flair, and stamps.  Thanks for stopping by!

Featured Layout At Creative Scrappers

Hello friends! I wanted to wish my American friends a very happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you have a wonderful holiday full of love, family and food.  As I am Canadian, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October.

Today I was very flattered to see that my layout was featured over at Creative Scrappers.  Thank you Becky Springer for choosing my layout.

I was inspired by the  Creative Scrappers Sketch #282 which I turned upside down.

Here is the sketch right side up

I loved the sketch and had to play along.  Have a wonderful day!

Remembrance Day Layout

Hello friends! Happy Sunday!  Today I wanted to share a layout I created for Remembrance Day.

I wanted to honour all the men and women who have sacrificed to keep my country,  Canada free. Freedom is something I never take for granted.

A few years back, I photographed a Red Poppy in a friend's back yard and this is what inspired me to create this layout.

I began with a piece of white card stock and added some clear gesso and then added some blue acrylic paint.  I applied some modelling paste to a stencil to give it more texture.

I used my Silhouette Cameo with the Flower Power Cut File from The Cut Shoppe and cut out the flower background on some red card stock and took my scissors and carefully cut a few of the flowers as I wanted to only use about four of them on my layout.

I added some red watercolour paint below some of the flower petals and in random areas and then added some black paint splatters.

Next I cut my title on my Cameo on some black card stock and then adhered the papers, flowers, flair, tags, and twine. Finally I added some zig zag stitching with my sewing machine below the title.

I journaled on the journaling card and voila! It is completed.  This layout was inspired by a sketch I saw this morning at Creative Scrappers.

I rotated the sketch like so...

This felt special to creae this layout and it made me proud to be Canadian.  I hope you enjoyed your visit. Thanks for stopping by!

November Challenge At Creative Embellishments

Hello friends! Can you believe it is November already? Wow!  Today at Creative Embellishments we are revealing our November Challenge and this is the inspiration photo for the challenge.

The twist is what are you thankful for?  I am thankful for so many things that I can't count them all but for this particular layout, I am thankful for my parents who are probably the most kind and giving people I know.

I was also inspired by the colors and the pumpkins and came up with this layout of my parents.

I created this mixed media layout with some paper scraps that I had from another project and added lots of paint, ink and stamps as well as some gold thread and orange thread to give it more interest.  It's the first time I have used thread on a layout besides machine stitching or hand stitching and I like the effect.

I used the Creative Embellishment's Distressed Burlap Stamp for some of the background stamping and  painted pumpkins as well as the Creative Embellishments Pumpkin Faces Chipboard and also the Autumn Leaves Set and the Autumn Leaves Set (set of 6)

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  What inspires you about the November Challenge Inspiration Photo?  You can link your project for the November Challenge at Creative Embellishments here to be eligible to win a prize.  Thanks for visiting!

Guest Designer At Scrap-lifting!

Hello friends! I was very flattered and honoured to be asked to be a guest designer over at Scrap-lifting as I was chosen as "Top 3 Layouts" for a recent challenge.

I was asked to scrap lift the amazingly talented Lisa Nazario Gregory.  She is one of my "scrappy idols" and I have the pleasure of calling her my online scrappy friend.  She doesn't know that I was scrap lifting her and I was was pleasantly surprised when I was given the task.  Lisa is also known for her beautiful creations over at Bo Bunny and I thought I would create a layout with Bo Bunny's Primrose Collection.  I love the soft green and pink and brown colour palette to this collection and thought it would be perfect papers to scrapbook my daughter and mother.

My daughter and my mom are very close and to this day my daughter calls my mom "Bama".  That was a name given to my mom instead of grandma because my son and daughter couldn't pronounce grandma when they were learning to talk so the name "Bama" stuck for all these years.

Here are some closeups of my layout

To see the layout of Lisa's that I scrap lifted, check it out on the Scrap-Lifting blog here.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!
