Flowers Make Me Smile Layout

Hello friends! I hope you are having a lovely day so far.  Today I wanted to share a layout I created for Creative Embellishments.

Lately, I have been creating more vintage/shabby chic layouts.  I love all styles of scrapbooking and it's fun to mix it up a little.  I think because I live in a place with snow and cold temperatures in the winter makes me long for the flowers to grow again.

This layout has lots of chipboard, flowers and bright colors. I love gardening and grow Pansies in several colors every summer on my deck.  To begin my layout I added some modelling paste and a stencil to the paper background (from the Bo Bunny Enchanted Collection) and added some paint splatters and sequins.

For the Pansies Chipboard, I brushed it with some gesso then believe it or not, used my Faber Castell Big Brush Pens and colored the petals from the outside edge inwards.  After the chipboard was dry, I added some Liquid Glass to give the Pansies Chipboard some dimension and shine.

For the Hot Hexagon Panel chipboard, I broke it into smaller pieces and used two pieces on the top left and bottom right side of the layout. I also brushed the it with gesso and dabbed it with some blue acrylic paint, let it dry and then brushed it with some Liquid Glass as well.

Lace always looks pretty so I adhered some lace to the left edge of the layout.  The chipboard Social Media Hash Tag Words "#pretty and #smile" were also created with gesso, dabs of acrylic paint and Liquid Glass.   The flowers were all brushed with some gesso to tone down the colors.

My desk gets very inky and messy after a mixed media project, but to me it is so freeing and fun to make layouts such as this one.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Take care and don't forget to check out the Creative Embellishments Store for these chipboard products and many more wood veneers, flair, and stamps.  Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas 2014 Edition Of Get Inspired Online Scrapbooking Magazine

Hello scrappy friends! I hope you had a good Christmas.

Today I wanted to let you know that the Christmas 2014 edition of Get Inspired Online Scrapbooking Magazine is now online!  I have one layout published in this amazing magazine. There is so much inspiration in 116 pages so be sure and check it out here. There are artists from all over the world.

This layout is of two of my kids opening gifts last Christmas. It was inspired by a sketch designed by Laura Whitaker. It can be found on Page 61.

I used an older Christmas collection (All Is Bright) of My Mind's Eye papers and some lace ribbon that can be cut into little doilies, some flair buttons and wood veneer snowflakes that I heat embossed.  I also used some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist in Mint Green and "painted" it on my page.

Thanks for stopping by!

So Lovely Layout

Hello creative friends!  Happy Monday!  Today I wanted to share a layout of my daughter that I created with an awesome sketch from Page Drafts.  I love sketches and Emma Stafrace clearly knows how to create some really amazing ones.  I saw this one and was so inspired.

For my layout I wanted to create a vintage, feminine, shabby chic type of design.  I didn't stray too far from the sketch and cut lots of different designs with my Cameo and added some lace and pearls and used my sewing machine to give it a more homemade feel.  I used the Kaisercraft Tea Break Collection of patterned papers and the two rose die cuts.  I just love pink and green together.  Something that isn't the norm for me is to use my computer to create my journaling but I wanted it to fit the layout.

Here are some more closeups

Do you ever see a sketch and want to create something as soon as you see it?  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Supplies

Diecuts - Silhouette
Distress Ink - Tim Holtz (Bundled Sage, Tattered Rose)
Lace - Unknown
Patterned Paper - Kaisercraft Tea Break Collection
Pearls - Kaisercraft
Sheer Ribbon - American Crafts

Altered Letter For Susan K. Weckesser

Hello there friends!  I hope you are having an amazing day!  Today I am excited to share with you my Altered Letter that I created using Susan K. Weckesser's awesome patterned papers from her "Live In Color" Collection. It was so much fun to create and very freeing.  It was a great time to use up some of my stash.  Recently, I got a wonderful birthday gift from my husband.  He bought me some new furniture for my studio and I wanted something to personalize it with and thought an altered letter would be great sitting on the shelf.

I used lots of Prima Pearls and Prima Flowers as well as some lace from Kaisercraft and a wire embellishment from Maya Road.  There is also a little birdhouse from Prima and some flower ribbon that I picked up from a scrapbook crop.  A lot of the flowers were white so I sprayed them with some Heidi Swapp Colorshine Mists in Blush and Peach.  There is also some cheesecloth tucked in between the flowers for some more texture.

I hope you are inspired to try an altered letter of your own.  Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day doing what you love.

Scrap It With A Song "We Belong" By Pat Benatar

Today at Scrap It With A Song it's the Rock Chicks turn to inspire you with the tune "We Belong" by Pat Benatar.

Yes, this is an oldie but goodie and I know I'm dating myself, but I remember when I was 16 years old and sang this song in a band with some friends.  Oh the memories of hanging out at our local music store where a group of us practiced after hours.  Good times.  Anyways, I digress.  Here is my take on the song "We Belong":

I used the C'est La Vie Collection by Bo Bunny for all the papers and some older flowers from Bo Bunny as well as some lace and letter stickers from Bo Bunny and Echo Park.  I added a flair button from Evalicious  and some pearls from Kaisercraft.  I fussy cut some of the flowers too!

I hope you are inspired to scrapbook a layout with this song.  I chose to use the title of the song for my title, but you can use any lyrics from the song or even the band's name to create your own.  Just have fun with it and there is always something fun going on at Scrap It With A Song so check out what the other Rock Chicks created here and be sure to upload your creation to the link by February 28 for a chance to win this prize courtesy of Shelley!

Thanks for stopping by!

Practical Scrappers February Sketch

Today at Practical Scrappers it is sketch day for February.  A few ladies on the the team joined in and created a layout for this fabulous sketch by Liz Chidester:

Practical Scrappers February 2013 Sketch
and because Valentine's Day is tomorrow, I thought it would be a good time to get all romantic.

This is of my hubby and I last May.  My twelve year old son took this photo.  I think he did a great job of photographing my husband and I.

For this layout, I used the Bo Bunny's Love Letters Collection for the patterned papers and die cuts.  I just love the vintage, nostalgic feel to this collection.  I also used some stamps for the background and cut out the hearts with my Silhouette Cameo and also added some softness with some lace and pearls.

Here you will see what my fellow teammates did with the sketch here at Practical Scrappers.

I hope you are inspired to create a layout from the sketch.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
