My Creative Scrapbook February Kits

Hello friends! Every month there are four new kits at My Creative Scrapbook and they are always beautiful and bursting with goodies. February's kits are awesome and this month I created with the gorgeous February Creative Kit. Check out the kits:

February Main Kit

February LE Kit

February Album Kit
I created four layouts with the February Creative Kits and they are all about love to Valentine's Day.

For the first layout, I wanted to created a layout of my excitement to be a first time grandma. I cut out the doily, butterflies, and flowers from cut files, that are included free with the kits, on my Silhouette Cameo, backed the flowers with some patterned paper and added some red sequins, which are included in the kit. i also added some computer generated journaling on some white cardstock, added the foam alphas for the title, and also some ephemera and ribbon from the kit.

For this layout I began with a white piece of cardstock for the background, handstitched some vertical lines with various colors of embroidery floss and added some punched paper hearts, wood hearts and sequins. This directs the eyes downwards towards the photo. I also added some stickers, and the black foam alphas for the title as well as some wood arrows and ephemera.

For this layout, I began with the vertical hearts patterned paper for the background and punched lots of paper hearts from an assortment of the papers in the kit and embellished with some wood hearts, pink and red sequins, stickers and wood arrows.

For this layout (which is my personal favorite) I drew a freehand heart shape on a piece of white cardstock and hand stitched the heart shape with light pink, red, and medium pink embroidery floss in somewhat of an ombre fashion and then I went crazy with embellishments from the kit.  I also added one flower cut file that I backed with pink patterned paper. This was a fun layout to create.

Well there you have it. My four layouts that I designed with the February Creative Kit and the four February kits from My Creative Scrapbook.

Sweet Happy Valentine's Day Layout

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by. Today I wanted to share a layout just because.  I thought I would try using some watercolors and see what I came up with.

I used the Echo Park Lucky In Love Collection and for the background paper and some papers and stickers.

For the diecut heart background, I experimented with some watercolor paints and painted a rainbow of colors on some white cardstock and then I used a digital cut file from The Cut Shoppe and cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.  I loved the way it looks and also used some dimensional squares and popped up some of the watercolored punched out hearts.  I machine stitched around the outside edge to give it more of a homespun feel

I finally finished with a little paper layering and some flair.

Thanks for visiting today! I hope you have a great day!

Together Layout

Hello friends! Today I am sharing my design team layout over at Creative Embellishments.  I thought I would create a Valentine's Day layout, but to be honest, this photo was taken by my son on my 15th wedding anniversary from last September but hey, my husband is my valentine so I think it works well.

For this layout I used several different chipboard shapes and wood veneers to pull this layout together. The papers are from the We R Memory Keepers Love Notes Collection.

I really love the wood veneer Conversation Hearts with all the cute love sentiments. They remind me of the Sweetarts candy I would buy as a child.  The Valentine's Hashtag word #Love was painted with white acrylic paint, let it dry and then dabbed a bright pink acrylic paint with a makeup sponge.  The Valentine's Hashtag #Be Mine was painted with a very light shade of pink acrylic paint and then I used a makeup sponge and dabbed a medium shade of pink acrylic paint over it to achieve a gradient look.

The  wood veneer Hearts were painted with several different shades of acrylic paint and some I just used a dabber to paint the outside edges.

The title word "Together " from the chipboard Celebrate Word Set was painted with some black acrylic paint to make it pop.

Finally, I added some paint splats and a flair button from A Flair For Buttons.  I was inspired by a sketch by Laura Whitaker for this layout.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the Creative Embellishments Store for these and many more chipboard and wood embellishments.

A Valentine's Mixed Media Layout

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing a layout of my daughter and I when she was a year old. This was so freeing to create because usually I have design team assignments and this one was just for the sake of creating.

I used a stencil and some modelling paste to create the brick background and some Tim Holtz Stamps and also pulled out my Cuttlebug and used a Sizzix die to create the book page flowers.  The background is inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Scattered Straw, Crushed Olive and Worn Lipstick.  Yes it's a little embellishment heavy, but it was fun to create.  I used lots of flowers and some wood embellishments that I inked and stamped to give more interest.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Valentine's Day Card For Kreaxions

I hope you are having a good Sunday.  Today I have a card to share that I created with the amazing Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch #905 for Valentine's Day.

I punched two border strips from the punch without any inserts and overlapped them to give it a feminine touch.

Kreaxions 4 In 1 Punch Without Inserts
Kreaxions 4 In 1 Punch With Inserts A, B, and C

The top of the card I stamped the kraft card stock with some Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder and added the leftover hearts from the punch to add some more visual interest.  I them added a sticker for the title and some puffy heart embellishments.

I hope you like my card.  Thanks for visiting my blog and the amazing Kreaxions 4 in 1 punch #905 is available here in the Just Imagine Crafts Online Store.

Practical Scrappers February Sketch

Today at Practical Scrappers it is sketch day for February.  A few ladies on the the team joined in and created a layout for this fabulous sketch by Liz Chidester:

Practical Scrappers February 2013 Sketch
and because Valentine's Day is tomorrow, I thought it would be a good time to get all romantic.

This is of my hubby and I last May.  My twelve year old son took this photo.  I think he did a great job of photographing my husband and I.

For this layout, I used the Bo Bunny's Love Letters Collection for the patterned papers and die cuts.  I just love the vintage, nostalgic feel to this collection.  I also used some stamps for the background and cut out the hearts with my Silhouette Cameo and also added some softness with some lace and pearls.

Here you will see what my fellow teammates did with the sketch here at Practical Scrappers.

I hope you are inspired to create a layout from the sketch.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Scrap It With A Song - "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson

Today the Rock Chicks are scrapping to the tune of "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson and it is a perfect song for Valentine's Day that is coming up in a week.

A Moment Like This
 by Kelly Clarkson

I created a layout of my daughter and her grandpa.  These two are so funny when they are together.

I was inspired by a layout of Lisa Dickinson's over at Two Peas In A Bucket.  Lisa suggested a new starburst punch by Jenni Bowlin, but since I  don't have a starburst punch, I created lots of starbursts with my Silhouette Cameo.

I layered some and others I put vellum over them to give it  some softness.  I also spritzed the background with some mists and machine stitched around the cut border and through the sunbursts.   The patterned papers are from Echo Park's Be Mine Collection.

I love starbursts and vellum and it was fun to create.  I hope you enjoyed your visit to my blog.  It's a new month and you can take part in the fun and upload your layout to Scrap It With A Song.

Have a great day!
