Love Summer Memories

Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

I am in summer mode at the moment and it's so awesome to have some lazier days and sunshine. Last year I renovated my outdoor space by adding some new outdoor furniture, privacy glass, a huge patio umbrella and a funky rug and it's now my favorite place to hang out with my family, friends and my dog and cat. That is what this layout is all about.

I had a layout published in the summer issue of Scrapbook And Cards Today Magazine and the lovely Catherine gave me the Summer Days collection kit from Simple Stories so I wanted to break it out and create something fun. I also used the Follow Your Heart cut file from The Cut Shoppe, which I cut on white cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with lots of patterned papers. It truly is my favorite thing to do in scrapbooking. It takes time and patience, but the result is so worth it. The papers went perfectly with my photo of my red furniture and red toes.

I added three flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons, I love being on this design team because flair buttons are my favorite embellishment and Shelley always has such a huge selection of flair buttons to work with any page.  I chose the red heart flair button from the Just Hearts Flair 2 set to add to the left of my title.

I also added the flair button "the best summer of my life" from the Say Hello To Summer Flair set as well as the "keep calm and enjoy summer" flair button, which is also from the Say Hello To Summer Flair set.

I love the bright striped washi tape from Simple Stories and added it below the photo and folded it back and forth to create a ruffle

and I also added a long strip to the bottom of the layout as well as several word and tab stickers above the washi tape strip. Finally I added some journal strips.

Finally to complete the layout, I  added some enamel hearts and an enamel arrow from Pinkfresh Studio.

It was really fun to create a bright, happy, and fun summer layout because that is what summer should be is happy and fun.

I hope you are having fun this summer. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great day!

Flowers I Love You Layout

Hello friends! Hope you are having a good weekend so far. Today I wanted to share a layout I created using the February 2015 sketch over at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  I love flowers and love to photograph flowers and create layouts of them often.  They just make me happy.

For this layout I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe and cut out the heart background on some black card stock then I used the cut outs as a template and hand cut several hearts and adhered them to the back of the card stock.  I love machine stitching on a layout and I think it gives the layout more of a homespun feel so I machine stitched around the outside edge of the hearts.

I fussy cut the title "I Love You" and machine stitched it to attach it to the layout.

Finally I added some sequins and a flair button and some journaling strips.  The patterned papers are from the new We R Memories Love Notes Collection.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend doing something you love!

Sweet Happy Valentine's Day Layout

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by. Today I wanted to share a layout just because.  I thought I would try using some watercolors and see what I came up with.

I used the Echo Park Lucky In Love Collection and for the background paper and some papers and stickers.

For the diecut heart background, I experimented with some watercolor paints and painted a rainbow of colors on some white cardstock and then I used a digital cut file from The Cut Shoppe and cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.  I loved the way it looks and also used some dimensional squares and popped up some of the watercolored punched out hearts.  I machine stitched around the outside edge to give it more of a homespun feel

I finally finished with a little paper layering and some flair.

Thanks for visiting today! I hope you have a great day!

January Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop

Hello friends! It's Lee-Anne here and I am so glad you are here and hope you are enjoying the hop so far! You should have arrived here from Suzanna's blog but if not you can go back to the beginning here.

Today I wanted to share my layout that I created for the hop from lots of goodies in my stash. I really love the gold trend at the moment and wanted to put some old goodies with some new goodies. Here is my layout.

Sibling Love Is Golden - by Lee-Anne Thornton (Photo courtesy of Rockwood Photography)

For this layout I cut out the  Lucky In Love digital cut file on some 12X12 white cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with another piece of white cardstock . I love the Lucky In Love 12X12  background digital cut file that my friend Ashley Horton has designed for The Cut Shoppe.  I was honored to be on her design team for the first term.

For the gold painted hearts, I applied some Heidi Swapp Colorshine in gold with a water paintbrush and painted the hearts and some of the love words and then splattered some randomly.

I then brushed some Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink in gold and outlined the hearts and painted the Prima wood veneer key and wood veneer "love" word.

I added some vellum paper from We R Memory Keepers that have these cute gold hearts on them, a gold doily from SRM Stickers and some white doilies from Bo Bunny.

American Crafts have these cute gold buttons that I have had in my stash for at least five years so now was the time to use them.

I painted some Karen Foster Designs twine with the Smooch gold paint and threaded the gold buttons and added some gold round and star sequins.

Finally, I finished the layout with some flair from A Flair For Buttons that I bought a few months ago and some alpha Thickers from American Crafts.  Here are some more closeups of this cute brother and sister who are my photographer friend's little ones.  Isn't it cute how the little girl looks up at her big brother? She simply adores him.

Valentine's is coming up and sometimes I like to put a different spin on the traditional Valentine's colors of red, pink and white so I went with the color gold for this layout.  I hope you have enjoyed your visit to my blog.  I would love if you would become a follower of my blog.

Next up is the talented Bobbi  Have a wonderful day!

My Layout Was Featured At Fancy Pants Designs!

Hello friends! Happy Thursday! Just wanted to share some super duper happy news today. My layout was featured on the Fancy Pants Designs Blog today for my layout "Welcome To My Everyday Circus". How cool is that?

Welcome To My Everyday Circus
Every month Fancy Pants Designs has a new sketch to play with.  For this layout I used the Everyday Circus Collection of patterned papers, stickers, buttons and sequins as well as some digital cut files from The Cut Shoppe.  The photos are of my family the day after my daughter's wedding day.  We all were gathered in the lobby of the hotel to say our goodbyes and take some photos before many of us travelled back to our homes.  Congratulations to the winner and all the ladies that were featured!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Featured Layout At Creative Scrappers

Hello friends! I wanted to wish my American friends a very happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you have a wonderful holiday full of love, family and food.  As I am Canadian, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October.

Today I was very flattered to see that my layout was featured over at Creative Scrappers.  Thank you Becky Springer for choosing my layout.

I was inspired by the  Creative Scrappers Sketch #282 which I turned upside down.

Here is the sketch right side up

I loved the sketch and had to play along.  Have a wonderful day!

Remembrance Day Layout

Hello friends! Happy Sunday!  Today I wanted to share a layout I created for Remembrance Day.

I wanted to honour all the men and women who have sacrificed to keep my country,  Canada free. Freedom is something I never take for granted.

A few years back, I photographed a Red Poppy in a friend's back yard and this is what inspired me to create this layout.

I began with a piece of white card stock and added some clear gesso and then added some blue acrylic paint.  I applied some modelling paste to a stencil to give it more texture.

I used my Silhouette Cameo with the Flower Power Cut File from The Cut Shoppe and cut out the flower background on some red card stock and took my scissors and carefully cut a few of the flowers as I wanted to only use about four of them on my layout.

I added some red watercolour paint below some of the flower petals and in random areas and then added some black paint splatters.

Next I cut my title on my Cameo on some black card stock and then adhered the papers, flowers, flair, tags, and twine. Finally I added some zig zag stitching with my sewing machine below the title.

I journaled on the journaling card and voila! It is completed.  This layout was inspired by a sketch I saw this morning at Creative Scrappers.

I rotated the sketch like so...

This felt special to creae this layout and it made me proud to be Canadian.  I hope you enjoyed your visit. Thanks for stopping by!

All Boy Layout

Hello friends! Happy Thursday! Today I am sharing a layout I created for Creative Embellishments.

For my layout, I wanted to create a masculine layout of this handsome little guy using lots of stars as my main design element.  I painted the Stars In My Universe Frame with several acrylic paints that coordinated with the star patterned paper.

For the background, I used the Grunge Stars Stamp with some black archival ink to give the background some texture.  I also used my electronic die cutting machine to cut some stars from silver foil paper.

Finally, I finished my layout with some stickers, letter stickers and a flair button.  I used the Max Collection by Bella Blvd. for the patterned papers and stickers and a flair button by A Flair For Buttons.  The silver foil paper from Fancy Pants Designs was cut on the Cameo.  I used a cut file for the stars from The Cut Shoppe and cut it apart.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Have a wonderful day!

Welcome To My Everyday Circus Layout

Hello friends! Glad you stopped by! Today I thought I would share a layout I created with the November Sketch over at Fancy Pants Designs.

For this layout I wanted to scrap my entire family.  These photos were taken the day after my daughter's wedding in 2010.  Some of my family were heading off to catch flights back home and it's not very often we get to see each other so I wanted to get a photo of everyone in the hotel lobby.  It was such a fun weekend.

I used the Fancy Pants Designs Everyday Circus Collection of patterned papers and stickers for this layout and a few buttons from the Nautical Collection and some sequins from the True Friends Collection.  I love being able to combine different collections in a layout.  For the journaling, I thought I would use some stickers.

I love to use my Silhouette Cameo on many of my layouts.  The cut files are from The Cut Shoppe.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!

Let Love Shine Layout And Guest Designer Call

Hello friends! If you are looking for the blog hop, please go here.

It's the beginning of November and there is a new sketch up at Stuck?! Sketches to get inspired with, but first, here is my layout for the November 1 sketch.

For this layout I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe for my title that I cut out with my Cameo and then I got busy and took some embroidery floss from my old cross-stitching days and hand stitched a large circle.  I then added some machine stitching to the layout as well.  The papers and butterfly stickers are from the Indian Summer Collection by We R Memory Keepers.  I think this is my third or fourth layout with this collection.  I absolutely love it! I think the chevron paper had to be used as I just finished watching the series Breaking Bad and the setting was in New Mexico so I think that is what inspired me to add that particular paper to my layout.  Isn't it funny what inspires us?

Here is a closeup of my hand stitching and I also added a flair button by A Flair For Buttons.

Now that I have kept your attention, here is the sketch designed by Laura Whitaker.  I really love this sketch!

I hope you are inspired to create your own layout with this fabulous sketch.  Also, there is a guest designer call at Stuck?! Sketches so if you are interested in applying, you can check out the details here.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. As always, I really appreciate you stopping by and always welcome comments.
