Flowers Make Me Smile Layout

Hello friends! I hope you are having a lovely day so far.  Today I wanted to share a layout I created for Creative Embellishments.

Lately, I have been creating more vintage/shabby chic layouts.  I love all styles of scrapbooking and it's fun to mix it up a little.  I think because I live in a place with snow and cold temperatures in the winter makes me long for the flowers to grow again.

This layout has lots of chipboard, flowers and bright colors. I love gardening and grow Pansies in several colors every summer on my deck.  To begin my layout I added some modelling paste and a stencil to the paper background (from the Bo Bunny Enchanted Collection) and added some paint splatters and sequins.

For the Pansies Chipboard, I brushed it with some gesso then believe it or not, used my Faber Castell Big Brush Pens and colored the petals from the outside edge inwards.  After the chipboard was dry, I added some Liquid Glass to give the Pansies Chipboard some dimension and shine.

For the Hot Hexagon Panel chipboard, I broke it into smaller pieces and used two pieces on the top left and bottom right side of the layout. I also brushed the it with gesso and dabbed it with some blue acrylic paint, let it dry and then brushed it with some Liquid Glass as well.

Lace always looks pretty so I adhered some lace to the left edge of the layout.  The chipboard Social Media Hash Tag Words "#pretty and #smile" were also created with gesso, dabs of acrylic paint and Liquid Glass.   The flowers were all brushed with some gesso to tone down the colors.

My desk gets very inky and messy after a mixed media project, but to me it is so freeing and fun to make layouts such as this one.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Take care and don't forget to check out the Creative Embellishments Store for these chipboard products and many more wood veneers, flair, and stamps.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sharing A Layout

Happy Saturday! Today I sat down and thought I would just get messy and do a playful, artsy, colourful layout.  There was a photo that was speaking to me to scrapbook of my daughter's girlfriend Kelsi, who is such a sweetheart. I gathered some acrylic paints, mists, stencils, stamps, paper and embellishments and this is what I came up with.

The title is made of vellum and cut with the Silhouette Cameo and then gesso was placed over it and then outlined with a yellow gel pen and a black pen for more definition
I used Tim Holtz stamps with paint and a chicken wire stencil with modeling paste and Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists to spray over the stencil.

I used a butterfly border punch for the yellow border

The photo is matted with patterned paper and I layered some embellishments along the left side of the photo.

Sometimes it's just nice to create with no plan or sketch.  It was fun and that's all that matters.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Sketches In Thyme Team A Sketch #109

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a good week so far.  Today at Sketches In Thyme we have a new sketch reveal

Sketches In Thyme Sketch #109
Here is my layout.  I enjoyed making it and put my heart and soul into it but notice that it is a bit crooked so I apologize.   I used a stencil and a bottle of Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist in Peach to spray the sunburst.  I then carefully used my sewing machine and stitched around the sunburst to give it more detail.

Double page layouts have always been a challenge for me so I suppose it's a good thing to have to scrap them and go outside of my comfort zone.  I do like scrapping events such as birthdays or other celebrations on a two pager when there are multiple photos.

This is my final design team layout with Sketches In Thyme as I am letting someone else have an opportunity to design on the team.  I enjoyed my six month term very much, but think it's time to simplify my life a little more.  It's been great working with Tiffany Call and the rest of the team and I have loved meeting some new scrappy friends.  I plan on visiting and joining some of the challenges as time permits.

I hope you enjoy my layout and play along with the sketch.

Have a wonderful day and hope you get to do something that you enjoy!

Practical Scrappers Ten Things Tuesday Team - Hexagons

Hello!

Today it's Ten Things Tuesday at Practical Scrappers and the topic is hexagons.  They are very trendy right now.  My layout is a bit more grungy, and mixed media than I usually create but I wanted to break out the modeling paste, mists and a stencil and have some fun!

I used the Fancy Pants Trend Setter collection for the corrugated background paper and the patterned papers.  The hexagons are a little bit messy, but I'm ok with that.  I was going for lots of texture in this layout.  Below are some more detailed photos:

This was a lot of fun to create and a bit messy, but I enjoyed the process.  Come see here what the other girls on the Practical Scrappers Ten Things Team created and be inspired with a variety of ways to create hexagon shapes on your pages.

Have a great day!
