Family Are Better Together

Hello! Happy National Scrapbook Day? Hopefully you are able to do some scrapbooking. Today I am sharing this layout over at Just Nick Digital Cut Files of my hubby, kids and parents.

For this layout I used two cut files from Just Nick and combined them to create one cut file.  I began with the Basic Hearts cut file and chose one of the hearts, traced it and enlarged it in Silhouette Studio, this is the software that is for the Silhouette Cameo.

I then opened the Borders 1 cut file and merged it with the heart.  I had to duplicate the Borders 1 cut file three times to fit inside the heart by placing them below each other.  I then grouped them, placed them over the heart and clicked "crop".  Once this was done I backed the heart with several polka dot patterned papers and then grabbed my embroidery floss and stitched in several colors alternating colors to give it a rainbow effect. I also added some plus signs in alternating colors around the page to give it more texture and interest.

Next came the embellishing.  I added my title from foam phrases from American Crafts. I like to use a pop of black on my layouts whenever I can. I think layouts need the contrast. I also added some word stickers, chipboard pieces, enamel dots and hearts around the layout.

I really cherish photos like these of my family because it isn't very often that we can be together. It made Easter fantastic.

There are some free cut files for National Scrapbook Day.  For my layout, the Borders 1 Cut File will be free today only in the Just Nick shop.  Simply add the code BORDERFREE at checkout. Actually, there are four cut files that are free today as four of the design team members, including myself, will be sharing projects with the cut files below.  Be sure and check out the Just Nick blog to see more inspiration.

Christmas Kitty

Hello friends! Today at Just Nick Digital Cut Files I am sharing a layout of my cute kitty Sheldon laying under the Christmas tree.

For this layout I began with a sheet of blue plaid paper from Lawn Fawn and added a very large photo that I printed of my kitty Sheldon.  I cut the Nordic 3 Background cut file onto some white card stock with my Silhouette Cameo and added that on top of the photo and plaid paper.  I cut away part of the background to have the photo stand out and then machine stitched through the layout on the outside edge.

The title was created with the Lower Outline Alphas that I cut on green plaid paper from Lawn Fawn and once they were cut out, I outlined each of them with a black fine tip pen.  I wasn't going for perfection so you probably will see that my hand was not very steady.

Embellishing was the fun part.  Bella Blvd. makes these cute felt bows and I love the different colors they come in so I added a blue one and a green one to add some texture to the layout.  Flair buttons are my go to embellishment so I chose three flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons from my stash and added them as well. Notice that I added them in a triangle to draw the eye around the page.

Finally, I added some ephemera pieces from Bella Blvd. and some enamel dots and voila! The layout is complete.

I hope you enjoyed your visit and be sure to check out all the fabulous cut files in the Just Nick shop.
Have a great day!

Trim The Tree

Hello friends! I hope you are staying warm. It's very cold here these days and when it's like this I like to hunker down in my studio and scrapbook.  Not very often I have the time to play along with some challenges as my design team assignments keep me very busy but I was inspired so much by this sketch by Amy Coose for the Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday Challenge that I had to play along.

I love to add some Missy Whidden style watercolors to my layouts so I used some grey, lime green and aqua watercolors and the packaging technique for my background.

I used some random alpha stickers from various collections of Bella Blvd. as well as some wood veneer trees that have been in my stash forever.  The papers are from the Winter and also the Christmas Collection by Lawn Fawn.  I am really digging plaid this year and can't get enough of it.

To finish off my layout I added some machine stitching, thread, alpha stickers from Jillibean Soup as well as a felt bow from Bella Blvd. and of course some flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons.

It was so much fun to create just for the fun of it.

Have a great day and thanks for sharing your day with me.

Merry And Bright Tree Layout

Hello friends! I love creating Christmas layouts and I thought it would be fun to create a layout of my Christmas tree using some fabulous flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons.

I had a lot of fun creating this layout and I added lots of different techniques as I went along.   I wanted to add lots and lots of whimsy to my layout so I added lots of flair buttons.

First I watercolored a 12X12 piece of white card stock with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink and a waterbrush.  When it was dry, I cut the tree shape and also the Merry And Bright title with my Silhouette Cameo and hand stitched with green embroidery floss to the outside edge of the tree.  I thought this would make the tree stand out more and also give it a handmade feel.

With my sewing machine, I machine stitched in white thread around the outside edge of the layout and stitched the title in place.

I added the green plaid paper behind the white card stock background and adhered with liquid glue around the outside edge. Now it is time to embellish.  I had some sheer ribbon in red, green and aqua in my stash so I made some bows and added them to the tree.  I then added the flair buttons on top of the ribbon bows and also on the layout.  With some sheer aqua ribbon, I added it behind the white cardstock background and secured it with tape to look like garland.

To finish the layout, I added my photo that I matted with plaid paper, added the sequins to the tree in brown for the trunk and aqua for the tree, some wood star and tree shapes and finally some journaling in black pen below the photo and added Liquid Glass to the title to give it more shine and dimension.

I love the depth that the tree has.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Be sure and check out the A Flair For Buttons shop for these and hundreds more flair buttons for all your projects.

Have a wonderful day!

Friends Forever

Hello everyone! I'm sharing this layout on the A Flair For Buttons blog today of my two oldest kiddos that are now all grown up, but I still smile when I look at these two when they were little. They were best buds then and they still are now.

For this layout I used the flair buttons from the Happy Flair set and the Just Hearts 2 Flair set. and added one to the top left hand corner and the bottom right hand corner of my layout.  One of my favorite layout designs is the diagonal design.

I used a funky cut file background (Quilted Background) from Just Nick Digital Cut Files that I cut out on white cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo and backed it with some plaid papers from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Collection.

I added the foam words "friends and forever" for the title.

I dug deep in my stash and found some enamel dots, wood veneers and some ephemera from Elle's Studio.

I thought the pastel colors went well with the page as my children were babies really.

I hope you enjoyed your visit. Have a lovely day!

Celebrate Summer

Hello friends and followers! Just thought I'd share a summer layout today using some Hello Summer Flair from A Flair For Buttons.

These pretty coloured patterned papers are from the Fancy Pants Designs Summer Sun Collection.  I used some papers from a 6X6 paper pad and also some 12X12 sheets cut down.  The small prints don't look as overpowering on the layout.

I am digging these wood veneers from Lawn Fawn and the epoxy hearts from Pinkfresh Studios.

A layout isn't complete without some sequins, stamping and machine stitching, but also I added some hand stitched x's with DMC embroidery floss to look like a quilt.

I also used a digital cut file from Just Nick Digital Cut Files called Summer Words and colored the bottom layer word "summer" with a Gelato and topped it with a white card stock word "summer".

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the cool flair buttons in the A Flair For Buttons Shop.
