Guest Designer At Scrapbook And Cards Today Magazine

Hello friends! Today I am very honored to be a guest designer on the Scrapbook And Cards Today Magazine Blog using the November Freebie Digital Cut File designed by the amazingly talented Nicole Nowosad.

I decided to create a Halloween layout of my friend's two little cuties.

To explain my design process, I cut the cut file on a 12 X 12 piece of black card stock with my Silhouette Cameo, turned it over onto the backside and backed the design with some patterned papers from the Crate Paper After Dark Collection.  Then, I adhered it to a white 12X12 card stock background that I first watercolored with some Tim Holtz Dried Marigold Distress Ink.  To embellish the layout, I glued some adorable bat sequins, orange sequins and star sequins that are also from the After Dark Collection, and placed them randomly around the page.  To complete the layout, I splattered with some Liquitex Black India Ink, let it dry and then added three  flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons.  To make the flair buttons pop and to give them more interest and texture, I wrapped the flair buttons with orange sewing thread.

Here are more layout closeups:

Happy Lovely Beautiful

Hello friends! It's Wednesday and I have another layout to share with you today.

This past June, my sister-in-law got married again.  To explain things further, my brother passed away 9 years ago at the age of 38 leaving behind his wife Pam and his two children Laine that was 4 years old and Dylan that was 2 years old.  It was a very hard time for Pam and my family but life goes on and this past summer Pam got married again to a wonderful guy that we have welcomed into our family.  We are so happy that Pam found love and happiness again and we know that my brother would have approved of her choice in a new mate.

I thought I would document this special time for Pam so I created a layout of her on her wedding day.

For this layout I used a Fiskars Hexagon Paper Punch, a 6X6 paper pad of the new Crate Paper's Wonder Collection, the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to make the paper bows, some mist splatters from Heidi Swapp Colorshine Mists in Seafoam, Blush and Black Velvet, a 12X12 piece of white card stock, a doily, some old Basic Grey chipboard alphas and some old Fancy Pants buttons and sequins in my stash.

I love using 6X6 paper pads for layouts.  The prints are a little smaller than the 12X12 papers and I love to use my paper punches on these.  Patterned paper has to be my favorite scrapbooking item.

The paper bows are a great way to embellish the layout give it a feminine touch.  They are so fun and easy to make using a We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a good week.

Practical Scrappers Ten Things Tuesday Team - Hexagons

Hello!

Today it's Ten Things Tuesday at Practical Scrappers and the topic is hexagons.  They are very trendy right now.  My layout is a bit more grungy, and mixed media than I usually create but I wanted to break out the modeling paste, mists and a stencil and have some fun!

I used the Fancy Pants Trend Setter collection for the corrugated background paper and the patterned papers.  The hexagons are a little bit messy, but I'm ok with that.  I was going for lots of texture in this layout.  Below are some more detailed photos:

This was a lot of fun to create and a bit messy, but I enjoyed the process.  Come see here what the other girls on the Practical Scrappers Ten Things Team created and be inspired with a variety of ways to create hexagon shapes on your pages.

Have a great day!
