Happier At Home Art Journal - October

Hello friends!  Today I wanted to share an art journal page I created in the Happier At Home book for October.  This is a monthly class that I have been taking this year by the talented shabby chic artist Lynn Thune.

I applied some Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Stain as the base of the pages and then some Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distress Stain and spritzed it with some water.  I tinted the ribbon with the same colours and also added some modeling paste, stamps, washi tape,  old book pages for flowers, some ribbon and lace and cut some word strips from words in the chapter of the book.

The chapter for October is about marriage. The photo is of my husband and I on our 14th wedding anniversary this past September.  The handwriting says "I need to be happy with myself so that I can be happy at home".  I truly believe in order to love we have to love ourselves first.  I know as a mother, we put all our family's needs before our own and we have to take time for ourselves. Art journaling is my way of nurturing myself as well as scrapbooking, mixed media and photography. It's just been the past two years or so that I'm not afraid to take time for myself, whether that is creating or getting a pedicure, a manicure or a little vacation alone.

I hope you enjoyed my art journal and thanks for stopping by my blog.  I always appreciate your visits and really love and welcome your comments.  Have a great day!

My Art Journal For August

Hello friends!  Wow!  Can you believe it's August? Where is the time going?

I love to art journal and it's always fun to play and get inky and not worry if something isn't perfectly straight and to just have fun. Today I created these pages for my monthly "Happier At Home" art journal that Lynn Thune teaches.

I love these colors together and love the soft feminine look.  The mists were "Lettuce" by Ranger Adirondacks Color Wash and Heidi Swapp "Peach" Color Shine Mists.  The distress inks I created this with are Walnut Stain, Brushed Corduroy and Worn Lipstick all by Tim Holtz.

Thanks for letting me share my journal.  Have a wonderful day!

Art Journal For July

Hello scrappy friends!  I am back from vacation and it's time to get busy with creating again.  I have missed creating as the past month my time has been taken up helping out, where I can, with all the devastating flooding that hit my area and then last week I was on vacation.

Today I wanted to share with you my art journal page for July.  This is a class I have been taking this year taught by the talented Lynn Thune.  I love her shabby chic style so much.

I created inside the actual book "Happier At Home" after reading the chapter.  The distress inks are Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain by Tim Holtz.

It's always fun to create in my "Happier At Home" art journal.  Now to get back in the groove of scrapbooking as I have a ton of design team assignments to get busy with but looking forward to it.

Have a creative day and happy Friday!

My Art Journal Page For June

Happy Thursday everyone!  I hope you are having a pleasant day and get to do something creative today.

Once a month, I take an art journal class by the sweet, talented Lynn Thune.  I love her shabby chic style and it is a nice time to get out for a few hours with some great ladies and create.  This is what I created for June.

This art journal is created in the actual book "Happier At Home" by Gretchen Rubin.  It is created on a bag and then folded and glued on some pages of the book.  I first used a brick stencil with some modeling paste and let it dry.  Then I inked the entire page with Tim Holtz Scattered Straw Distress Ink, then Crushed Olive Distress Ink and then Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.  I also inked a small file folder and adhered it to the bag.  I then started stamping, applying different washi tapes, lace, book page flowers, the butterfly, photo corner, string and ribbon.  Finally I added the three identical 2x3 inch photos, the cabochon and cut out some words from the book.  I love the colors and am happy how it turned out.  Now I have to write what makes me happier at home and tuck it into the bag.

I hope you are inspired to create an art journal page.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Art Journal Page For May

Every month this year I meet with a group of ladies and we create an art journal page from the pages of the book Happier At Home.  Lynn Thune teaches  the class and I love her unique shabby chic style.  Everyone in the class uses the same products, but they all look a little different.  Turquoise is one of my favorite colours so I went a little heavier on the misting.  Here is the page for May:

I love the brown and teal and all the little details.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

My Art Journal For February

Today I wanted to share what I'm up to with my art journaling.

Lynn Thune, a very talented shabby chic artist, and sweet lady,  is teaching a great art journal class.  Lynn had a brilliant idea to take the book "Happier At Home" by Gretchen Rubin, who is also the author of the bestseller "The Happiness Project", and create an art journal.  Every month we read a chapter and then use the book to art journal.  In a year's time, I will have a fabulous art journal with lots of techniques.

This is my page for February.

I tend to be a bit of a hermit in the winter and it is so nice to gather with a great group of ladies each month and just socialize and create.

If you would like to see the January page, you can see it here.

My cat likes it when I art journal, so one of these days, you may see a lot of paw prints on my pages LOL.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Friday!

My Art Journal

It's been over a year since I have pulled out my art journals.  I have quite a few of them and love to get messy with paints, inks, modeling paste and other mediums.

Here is a page I created for January from the Happier At Home Art Journal class by Lynn Thune.

If you haven't tried art journaling, give it a try.  It's like a little therapy session. Hahaha.  I love the freedom and the creativity that comes with getting your hands inky.

Have a happy Sunday!
