Sunshine And Happiness

Hello friends! Today at Just Nick Digital Cut Files, I am sharing this layout of my only daughter and I.  She sparkles and definitely is my sunshine.  I don't get to see her very often as she lives far away , so when she does come to visit, I like to have some fun and take "usies".

For this particular layout, I took the cutting blade out of my Silhouette Cameo and replaced it with a black Silhouette sketch pen and traced the Retro 50's Background design onto white card stock.

Usually I cut out the designs, but I wanted to hand stitch on my layout and boy oh boy did I hand stitch.  It was a labor of love for sure.  I used 5 different colors of DMC embroidery floss.  After the stitching was completed, I added some coordinating sequins here and there on the layout.

I really love all the texture that the hand stitching adds to the layout.

I hope you are inspired to try cut files in a different way such as using sketch pens.  Be sure and check out all the awesome designs at Just Nick Digital Cut Files.

Thanks for stopping by!

Back To School Layout

Hello friends! Happy Saturday! This weekend I am enjoying being together with my older kids whom I don't get to see very often as they live in a different city than I do.  I haven't seen my oldest son for eight months and my daughter for two months so it's great to be together.  Since I have been thinking of them a lot lately and the new school year will be beginning soon, I thought I would dig up an old photo and scrapbook it.  This photo is from 1993 but I wanted to give it a fresh, trendy design.  Triangles are very trendy and I love the pinwheel effect it gives this layout.

I was inspired by Cari Locken on the Silhouette blog recently.  I went ahead and used a black Silhouette Sketch Pen in my Silhouette and sketched out the design on a 12X12 piece of white card stock.  I then offset the design by 0.78 and then put the Silhouette blade in my Cameo and went ahead and cut the design with a 6X6 paper pad of the new Doodlebug Design Back To School Collection and adhered the paper triangles randomly to the sketched triangles. I also  left some blank so it wouldn't be too busy.

I also cut out the title with my Silhouette Cameo with a free cut file at Kerri Bradford Studios and popped it up with dimensional adhesive squares.

I had some sequins in my stash and some cute wood embellishments and a backpack embellishment so I added them to the layout as well.

This was so much fun to do.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a great weekend.

Lucky

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Thanks for stopping by.  I was playing around with my Silhouette Cameo and my watercolors and thought I would create a layout of my husband and I on our 15th wedding anniversary last September so beware, this layout is mushy. LOL.

I was inspired by a layout by Nicole Nowosad recently and loved the way she used a Silhouette Sketch Pen and created a background.  I decided to go with it and put my own spin on it.

This took a while to create but I was in no hurry.  It was simply fun!

I heat embossed some Creative Embellishments Chipboard and also used my Silhouette Cameo and a black sketch pen to create the "Lucky" background and then used several shades of blue and green watercolours to fill in the letters.  I cut the title "Lucky" on my Silhouette as well.  This cut file is from The Cut Shoppe.  The shamrocks and the hearst were also cut on my Silhouette Cameo but first I added several washi tape strips over card stock and cut it out on my Cameo.  The top section of the white card stock background was simply watercolored with watercolor paints and water.

I don't journal very often on my layouts, but added some journaling strips that I printed out with my printer.

Thanks for visiting my blog and hope you have a wonderful day!
