Scrap Our Stash November 1 Challenge

Hello scrappy peeps.

Today is my turn over at Scrap Our Stash and the challenge was to use 6 X 6 papers on a layout.  I loved this challenge as I love paper pads but when I buy them I have intentions of using them for diecutting or cards but don't think to use them on layouts.  The only 12 X 12 sheet of paper that is allowed for this challenge is the background paper.  The other challenge is to use at least 6 premade embellishments such as 6 chipboard pieces or 6 buttons.  They don't have to be the exact same size or colour.  I chose to use red sequins and on my layout I count eleven of them.  I love this trend and how inexpensive sequins are and how they give the layout that little extra sparkle.

The layout is of my youngest nephew all dressed up for halloween as Avatar.

Boys Will Be Boys

Cardstock - American Crafts
Cork Arrows - Fancy Pants Designs
Diecuts - Silhouette America
Distress Inks - Tim Holtz (Faded Jeans, Festive Berries)
Kraft Doily - Maya Road
Liquid Glass - Close To My Heart
Metal Paper Clip - Maya Road
Patterned Papers - Teresa Collins
Pen - Marvy Uchida
Rotating Stamp - American Crafts
Sequins - Unknown
Stencil - The Crafter's Workshop
Twine - Unknown
I chose some very different papers to create this layout and didn't use typical halloween colours at all.  Sometimes it's fun to try something different so I took the blue from Dylan's outfit and used that as my inspiration for the color palette of blue, grey, red and white.

I hope you enjoyed your visit and I would love to see what you create so be sure and upload your creation to the Scrap Our Stash Blog for November for a great prize.  Thanks for stopping by.

Uncle Rob And Quinn

Happy Sunday!  Today I wanted to share a layout I created of my son in law and his little nephew.  My son in law, Rob, is such a great guy and wonderful with children.

Uncle Rob And Quinn
Acrylic Stamps - Technique Tuesday
Adhesives - 3L, Scotch
Cardstock - American Crafts, Michaels (Kraft)
Diecuts - Silhouette America
Flair - The Paper Bakery
Gesso - Liquitex
Ink - Faber Castell, Tim Holtz
Letter Stickers - American Crafts, Echo Park
Modeling Paste - Liquitex
Patterned Papers - Echo Park, Fancy Pants, SEI
Punch - Kreaxions 4 In 1 Punch #312
Stencils - The Crafter's Workshop
Stickers - Bella Blvd. Echo Park
Wood Embellishments - Studio Calico

For this layout, I wanted the page to be spontaneous and fun so I reached for the new Kreaxions 4 In 1 Punch #312 with insert A and punched the middle bottom and top of the navy polka dot paper as well as the outside corners of the orange patterned papers.

I also used some stencils and got messy with some modeling paste and also splattered some gesso.  I love the new roller stamps so I inked it up with some Stormy Sky Distress Ink by Tim Holtz and rolled it around the photo to give the layout some movement and make the photo the focal point.  As you can see, I really didn't go for perfection in this layout.  There are lots of fun mistakes with the stencils and the roller stamp was not stamped perfectly straight but I am fine with that.  I just wanted to create some good, messy fun to this layout.  Oh and what layout isn't complete without some fun wood star embellishments and a flair button? Here are some more closeups of the layout. I was inspired by a sketch from Liz Chidester.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to my blog.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Practical Scrappers October Sketch

Hello scrappy followers!  Today I wanted to share a layout I created with the October sketch over at Practical Scrappers.

My son in law is such a great guy and wonderful with children.  I loved this photo of him and his nephew Quinn having some good quality time together.

Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #293

I have a new sketch to share from Scrapbook Challenges with all you scrappers out there who would like  to kickstart the creative juices and get out of the scrapping rut.  Take your pick and use the single page layout, the double page layout or both.  After you create, feel free to share in the gallery and the Sketch #293 thread on  Scrapbook Challenges.

Sketch #293-1

Sketch 293-2

With this particular sketch, I chose to do a little boy layout.  Bazzill isn't only card stock, it now has patterned paper and I fell in love with this little boy collection called "Dino-mite".

My daughter and son-in-law bought a little quad for their nephew Quinn last Christmas so I thought it was a nice change to create a little boy layout.

Secondly, this week I bought a photo scanner.  I am so excited to play with it and now I can scrapbook a lot of old photos of my two older children as I just have originals for these and no negatives.  I have heard great things about the Epson V600.  It scans photos, slides and documents and it even came with Photoshop Elements!  It has ICE technology.  It will take the cracks out of old photos and spruce them up better than new.

Well that's an update of my week.

Oh, I just about forgot to mention about another great thing to share this week.  Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine has some great contests.  It must be my lucky year as I have won a lot of prizes from this fantastic magazine on their photography challenge, and Why Not Win Wednesdays.  To date, I have won a prize pack from 3L Adhesives (the photography challenge), A Sony Digital Photo Frame and Printer and yesterday an awesome prize pack of Helmar adhesives.  Their Liquid Scrap Dots are amazing!

Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine rocks!!!

Have a great day!  Don't forget to join me and the entire design team over at Scrapbook Challenges this coming weekend for National Scrapbook Day.  We will be having some games, challenges and prizes.

Have a great day!
